Water-soluble solvent compositions, including from about 10% to about 60% by weight of an aromatic ester; from about 30% to about 60% by weight of an aliphatic ester; from 0% to about 15% by weight of a co-solvent; from 0% to about 20% of one of a cyclic terpene and a terpenoid; from 0% to about 1% by weight of an odor-masking agent; and from 0% to about 20% by weight of a nonionic surfactant, for removing petroleum residue from a substrate, and methods of use thereof. The composition can further comprise water. The composition also can comprise an aqueous solution. The method for removing petroleum residue from a substrate can further comprise recycling the solvent composition by using a countercurrent separation column charged with compressed ammonia and/or carbon dioxide and a spinning band distillation column to separate the solvent composition from the petroleum residue.

An asphalt release agent and a method of applying the same, wherein said asphalt release agent comprises a fatty oil as the active ingredient together with a foaming agent, a crosslinked copolymer, an alkalinizing agent and a preservative. The release agent is preferably applied using a pneumatic pump to pump the release agent through an air-inducting nozzle.

The present invention relates generally to the field of release agents commonly in uses in preventing asphalt and other sticky compounds such as rubbers from sticking to the transporting vehicles such as dump truck beds and processing tools, and equipment, and more particularly to a novel biodegradable release agent applied to metal surfaces prior to use for promoting free release of sticky hot-mix asphalt materials from the metal tools and equipment used in road construction applications.

An asphalt release agent for preventing hot road asphalt, especially polymer-modified asphalt, from sticking to surfaces of delivery truck beds is provided. The release agent includes a water-based mixture of polycycloaliphatic amines and polyalkylene glycols. The release agent is applied onto the truck beds to create a slippery non-stick surface so that the road asphalt which comes in contact with such truck bed surfaces will not adhere.

Anti-accretion additives utilize silicone chemistry to prevent bituminous and heavy oil materials from sticking to metals surfaces such as drill bits, drillstring, casing and the like. Organopolysiloxanes and/or copolymers thereof are added directly to an aqueous drilling fluid or are first diluted in a solvent for adding to the drilling fluid. Further, an alkyl polyalkylene oxide may also be added. If a silicone oil is used as the solvent, the anti-accretion additive has the increased functionality of minimizing the amount of bituminous or heavy oil material which is retained in the drilling fluid when returned to surface and permits removal of the bituminous or heavy oil materials with the solids using conventional solids control equipment.

An asphalt release agent and a method of applying the same, including a water-based solution of magnesium chloride and/or calcium chloride together with a phosphate ester corrosion inhibitor, an anionic isopropyl alcohol surfactant and a dye. The release agent is applied using a spray gun in combination with an air compressor to add air to foam the release agent.
