TL;DR: Of 563 individuals suspected of having rheumatoid arthritis when examined in 1959-1960, only 402, or 71.4 per cent, participated in the Tecumseh, Michigan, Community Health Study of 1962-1965, which illustrated some of the difficulties and uncertainties of prospective studies.

Prevalence of radiologically defined osteoarthritis in the finger and wrist joints of adult residents of Tecumseh, Michigan, 1962-65.

TL;DR: Joint-specific prevalence rates of OA increased sharply with age for both sexes, and at the older ages, the prevalence rates for most joints were higher for females than for males, and there was only a small, nonsignificant association between OA in the DIP and PIP joints.

Observations on the natural history of hyperuricemia and gout: I. An eighteen tear follow-up of nineteen gouty families☆

TL;DR: Follow-up information has been obtained regarding nineteen families of propositi with overt gout, originally studied in 1938-1946 as discussed by the authors, and the results are similar to those of previous investigations in suggesting that the prevalence of gout and asymptomatic hyperuricemia is increased among the relatives of Gouty patients.
