Journal ArticleDOI

Circulatory Bypass of the Right Side of the Heart

TL;DR: The cardiac conditions that would benefit from circulatory bypass of the right side of the heart include stenosis or atresia of the tricuspid and pulmonary outflow tracts, Ebstein's anomaly, single ventricle, bilocular heart and transposition of the great vessels with an associated stenosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diaphragm pacing by electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve.

TL;DR: The authors prefer stimulation of the phrenic nerve in the thorax using a platinum ribbon electrode placed behind the nerve and an attached subcutancously implanted radiofrequency receiver inductively coupled to an external RF transmitter.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ventilatory support by pacing of the conditioned diaphragm in quadriplegia.

TL;DR: It is found that continuous bilateral pacing using low-frequency stimulation appeared to be superior because of more efficient ventilation of both lungs, fewer total coulombs required to effect the same ventilation, and absence of myopathic changes in the diaphragm muscle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Twenty years of experience in phrenic nerve stimulation to pace the diaphragm.

Journal ArticleDOI

Remote stimulation of the heart by radiofrequency transmission. Clinical application to a patient with Stokes-Adams syndrome.

TL;DR: Recently, the authors were confronted with rapid deterioration of a seventy-three-year-old man who had been in complete heart block for about two years and had .
