The second member is configured to join with the first case member to at least partially cover the electronic device. An aperture defined by the protective shell is aligned with the interactive control panel when the electronic device is at least partially enclosed by the protective shell. A securing mechanism secures the first member with the second member. An electrical connection attached to the protective shell is configured to connect an electrical source to at least one of the electrical contacts of the electronic device to provide an electrical connection to the electrical source when the electronic device is received by the first member.

The housing further includes an air inlet, an air outlet, and a dust channel. The air inlet, the air outlet, and the dust channel are in communication with the compartment. A stator is coupled to the base of the housing. An impeller is rotatably coupled to the stator. A control element includes a driving circuit electrically connected to the stator and a rotating direction control circuit electrically connected to the driving circuit. In another embodiment, the heat dissipating fan includes a housing having a base and a lateral wall coupled to the base. The lateral wall defines a compartment. The lateral wall includes an air inlet and an air outlet both in communication with the compartment. The air inlet also acts as a dust channel.

Disclosed is a mini fan (126) that is embodied for mounting in a recess (124) of a wall (122) which is provided with a plurality of holding members (128, 129) at the periphery of said recess (124). The inventive fan comprises a housing (136) for conducting air, which extends into the recess (124) of the wall (122) with a section (127) that is approximately complementary to said recess in the mounted position thereof. At least one part (138) that is made of an elastomeric material is disposed at the periphery of said housing section. The fan (126) can be inserted into the holding members (128, 129) with the aid of said part (138) during mounting thereof by displacing the fan (126) along the wall (122) in order to make at least some sections of said part (138) rest in a sealing manner against the wall (122) in the mounted position.

Due to variations arising during manufacturing, axial fans often are slightly imbalanced, resulting in noise during operation, which is undesirable in many contexts, for example when the fan is used for ventilation purposes in a motor vehicle. A fan with improved vibration and noise damping can be achieved by elastically suspending the fan wheel within a first ring formed of a hard plastic, the first ring having a tubular extension formed of a softer plastic, and serving to mechanically connect the first ring to a surrounding annular carrier part. Optionally, the first ring and extension unit can include a spring element. Preferably, the first ring and tubular extension are produced by a multi-component forming technology such as two-plastic technology. The fan is preferably driven by an electronically commutated motor (ECM).
