TL;DR: In this paper, a solids layer is applied to support bodies and the impregnation solution flows over them, stopping when the reaction with the gases subsides, allowing the solution to flow again over the fixed support bodies, which are re-impregnated by drying.
Abstract: Pollutant-containing gases are purified by contacting them with a solids layer which adheres to support bodies and has been applied thereto by wetting with an impregnation solution and by drying of the impregnation solution on the support bodies. After the reaction with the gases to be purified, the solids layer is removed again from the support bodies and subsequently reapplied by wetting with impregnation solution and drying. The support bodies are in a fixed position, and the impregnation solution flows over them. When the support bodies have been wetted, the flow is stopped and the impregnation solution on the support bodies is dried. When the gas reaction on the solids layer subsides, impregnation solution is allowed to flow again over the fixed support bodies, which are re-impregnated by drying. After several impregnations, the solids layer is washed off the support bodies with a washing solution.
