Foreign direct investment and China's regional income inequality ☆

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assess the impacts of China's stock of foreign direct investment on its regional income inequality using simultaneous equation model and the Shapley value regression-based decomposition approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determinants of Household Income Mobility in Rural China

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used multivariate regression and decomposition analyses to assess household income mobility determinants and their contributions to income mobility in rural China from 1989 to 2006, and found that households with lower initial income level, higher share of wage income, higher educational level of household members, larger number of non-agricultural employed household members and younger heads are more mobile.
Journal ArticleDOI

Why Has China's Trade Grown So Fast? A Demand-Side Perspective

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the causes of China's rapid growth by decomposing China's trade growth into preference changes, income growth, and other factors, and found that preference changes explained 35.8 percent of export growth and 41.9 percent of import growth over the period.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impacts of Climate Change on the People's Republic of China's Grain Output - Regional and Crop Perspective

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the impacts of climate change on the People's Republic of China's (PRC) grain output using rural household survey data and highlighted the regional differences of impacts by estimating output elasticities for different grain crops and different regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Technological change and China's regional disparities — A calibrated equilibrium analysis☆

TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the impacts of technological change on China's regional disparities using a general equilibrium model of multiple regions and multiple sectors using the most recent available Chinese interregional data to calibrate the model parameters.
