Image segmentation is a wide research topic; a huge amount of research has been performed in this context. Image segmentation is a crucial procedure for most object detection, image recognition, feature extraction, and classification tasks depend on the quality of the segmentation process. Image segmentation is the dividing of a specific image into a numeral of homogeneous segments; therefore, the representation of an image into simple and easy forms increases the effectiveness of pattern recognition. The effectiveness of approaches varies according to the conditions of objects arrangement, lighting, shadow, and other factors. However, there is no generic approach for successfully segmenting all images, where some approaches have been proven to be more effective than others. The major goal of this study is to provide summarize of the disadvantages and the advantages of each of the reviewed approaches of image segmentation.

Digital Textile Printing

Provided are a digital printing method, a digital printing machine and a fabric, the printing method comprising: acquiring at least one flower pattern of an original pattern on a fabric to serve as an original template; performing secondary design on the original pattern of the fabric to obtain a target pattern template which needs to be digitally printed; using an image acquisition device to carry out pattern acquisition in real-time for the actual pattern on the fabric, and acquiring the position and shape of the actual pattern of the fabric in an inkjet printing area; calculating a deviation between a feature point in the actual pattern and a corresponding feature point of the original template; adjusting the printing position and pattern shape of the target pattern template according to the deviation; and controlling a digital nozzle to inkjet print on the fabric according to the adjusted target pattern template. With the present invention, the target pattern template is obtained by means of the secondary design on the fabric having the original pattern, and precise printing is achieved by means of the digital printing method, which enriches the pattern and/or color of the fabric; additionally, users may redesign existing fabrics according to preferences so as to achieve the desired effect.

Multimedia data, ranging from text, audio, video to animation, undergoes intellectual property protection or has high sensitivity. To deal with privacy leakage during multimedia sharing and dissemination, it is crucial to trace the origin and transformation history of multimedia data, which is called multimedia provenance. In this paper, we construct a multimedia access control system with secure provenance in fog-cloud computing networks, which is designed based on attribute based encryption (ABE) and zero of knowledge technologies. The proposed scheme realizes confidentiality of multimedia big data that is outsourced to the cloud, anonymity of data provider, fine-grained access control of encrypted data, irrefutable of the provenance data, and traceability of data provider. We utilize the fog server to reduce user’s decryption burden and transfer partial decryption tasks. The suggested system is formally proved indistinguishable against chosen plaintext attack (IND-CPA). The simulation and experimental results indicate that our system has low communication overhead and low computation cost.

In today’s rapid growth of volume of multimedia data, security is important yet challenging problem in multimedia applications. Image, which covers the highest percentage of the multimedia data, it is very important for multimedia security. Image segmentation is utilized as a fundamental preprocessing of various multimedia applications such as surveillance for security by breaking a given image into multiple salient regions. In this paper, we present a new image segmentation approach based on frequency-domain filtering for images with stripe texture, and generalize it to lattice fence images. Our method significantly reduces the impact of stripes on segmentation performance. The approach proposed in this paper consists of three phases. Given the images, we weaken the effect of stripe texture by filtering in the frequency domain automatically. Then, structure-preserving image smoothing is employed to remove texture details and extract the main image structures. Last, we use an effective threshold method to produce segmentation results. Our method achieves very promising results for the test image dataset and could benefit a number of new multimedia applications such as public security.
