The influence of electric and magnetic fields as well as electron-polar optical phonon interaction on an electron bound to a Coulomb impurity in a cylindrical quantum dot is studied theoretically. The interplay between the confinement effects due to applied fields, quantum-size confinements, and the electron–phonon coupling on the impurity binding energy is analyzed. Analytical expression for polaron energy has been obtained as a function of the QD sizes, intensities of the electric and magnetic fields and the position of the impurity in the QD. Effect of electric and magnetic fields on the binding energy of a Coulomb impurity bound polaron in a cylindrical quantum dot

Polaron effects on the binding energy of a hydrogenic impurity in parabolic quantum wires in perpendicular electric and magnetic fields

The impurity bound polaron in a cylindrical quantum wire with a parabolic confining potential was studied by the variational approach. The polaron effects on the ground-state binding energy in electric and magnetic fields are investigated by means of Pekar-Landau variation technique by taking into account optical phonon confinement within the wire region and localization at its boundaries. It is shown that not only electron confinement, but also polar optical phonon confinement leads to a considerable enhancement of the polaron effect. The results for the binding energy as well as polaronic correction are obtained as a function of the applied fields.

The Polar Optical Phonon Confinement Effect on the Binding Energy of a Hydrogenic Impurity in Quantum Wires Under Applied Electric and Magnetic Fields

In the framework of effective mass approximation, the LandauPekar variational procedure is adopted to study the ground-state binding energy of a hydrogenic impurity in a semiconductor nanowire with finite confining potential subjected to both external fields (electric and magnetic) and electronpolar optical phonon interaction taking into account the phonon confinement effect. The results for the binding energy as well as polaronic correction are obtained as a function of the wire radius, impurity position and applied fields. Calculated results reveal that the values of the polaronic shifts of impurity binding energy can be quite different for cases with finite and infinite confining potentials.
