Post-Translational Control of IL-1β via the Human Papillomavirus Type 16 E6 Oncoprotein: A Novel Mechanism of Innate Immune Escape Mediated by the E3-Ubiquitin Ligase E6-AP and p53
Martina Niebler,Xu Qian,Daniela Höfler,Vlada Kogosov,Jittranan Kaewprag,Jittranan Kaewprag,Andreas M. Kaufmann,Regina Ly,Gerd Böhmer,Rainer Zawatzky,Frank Rösl,Bladimiro Rincon-Orozco +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a post-translational mechanism of pro-IL-1β degradation by the high-risk human papillomavirus (HPVs) oncoprotein abrogates IL-1α processing and secretion in a NALP3 inflammasome-independent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Meta analysis: HPV and p16 pattern determines survival in patients with HNSCC and identifies potential new biologic subtype
TL;DR: HNSCC patients down-staged according to the HPV-dependant TNM are at risk for undertreatment and data in clinical trials may be skewed due to false patient inclusion, according to a meta-analysis of clinical outcomes of the distinct subgroups with combined p16 and HPV detection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk factors for extrapulmonary dissemination of tuberculosis and associated mortality during treatment for extrapulmonary tuberculosis
TL;DR: Age ≥45 years, HIV+ status, excessive alcohol use within the past 12 months, ESRD, and abnormal chest radiographs were independent risk factors for EPTB mortality during TB treatment, and epidemiologic risk factors identified by multivariate analyses provide new information that may be useful to health professionals in managing patients with E PTB.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stem cells in squamous head and neck cancer.
Andreas E. Albers,Chao Chen,Beate Köberle,Xu Qian,Jens Peter Klussmann,Barbara Wollenberg,Andreas M. Kaufmann +6 more
TL;DR: Therapeutic targeting of CSC may improve clinical outcome of HNSCC which has two distinct etiologies: infection of epithelial stem cells by high-risk types of the human papillomavirus, or long-term tobacco and alcohol abuse.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic significance of ALDH1A1-positive cancer stem cells in patients with locally advanced, metastasized head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Xu Qian,Xu Qian,Steffen Wagner,Chenming Ma,Annekatrin Coordes,Julia Gekeler,Jens Peter Klussmann,Michael Hummel,Andreas M. Kaufmann,Andreas E. Albers +9 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided for the prognostic value of ALDH1A1 as a cancer stem(-like) cells (CSCs) marker in patients with locally advanced, metastasized HNSCC.
