Information pertaining to a first zone set ahead of a host vehicle and a second zone farther ahead than the first zone is acquired. Based on the information, if a distance between an end point of the first zone and a start point of the second zone is shorter than a distance within which the host vehicle can be slowed at a predetermined deceleration to a second target vehicle speed for traveling the second zone at the start point of the second zone, a second acceleration gear ratio is acquired for accelerating the host vehicle in a second acceleration zone following the second zone. The gear ratio of the host vehicle is set to the second acceleration gear ratio in a first deceleration zone for slowing the host vehicle before reaching the first zone.

An electric linear actuator has a housing, an electric motor mounted on the housing, a speed reduction mechanism, and a ball screw mechanism. The ball screw mechanism has a nut and screw shaft. Both have helical screw grooves. The screw shaft is inserted into the nut, via a large number of balls. A sleeve is secured on the housing to prevent rotation of the screw shaft relative to the housing. At least one axially extending recessed groove is formed on the inner circumference of the sleeve. At least one guide pin, mounted on the end of the screw shaft, engages the recessed groove. A tapering chamfered portion is formed on the end of the nut.

Provided is an electric brake device capable of early detection of the presence/absence of an abnormality of the electric brake device when a brake operation means is not being operated while a vehicle is traveling. A control device (9) of this electric brake device is equipped with: a basic control means (36a) that imparts a braking force by causing an electric motor (2) to operate in response to an operation performed on a brake operation means (4) by the driver; and an abnormality detection operation control means (36b) that causes the electric motor (2) to operate in accordance with a preset condition when the brake operation means is not being operated while the vehicle is traveling. Furthermore, the control device is equipped with an abnormality detection unit (37) that obtains a measurement value of a predetermined item pertaining to the vehicle when the electric motor (2) is caused to operate by the abnormality detection operation control means (36b) and compares the measurement value with an estimated value or a preset value in order to detect the presence/absence of an abnormality of the electric brake device.

Then, the title actuator is provided with a spline part 150 in such a way that, when the screw nut 141 is turned to the pressurization direction, that the rotation of the screw shaft 142 is locked, that the screw nut 141 is turned to the reverse direction and that, when the frictional force between a friction member 147 and the brake pad is lowered to an idly turned extent, that the screw shaft 142 is made free. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deceleration feeling corresponding to expectation of a driver when an acceleration operation is stopped by determining a target deceleration ratio, determining a stage of a transmission based on that, performing engine braking, and when shortage occurs, compensating it by a braking means. SOLUTION: When a driver stops operating an accelerator pedal 5 so as to decelerate a car preparing the curved road in front of the car, a target deceleration ratio determination means 6 determines the target deceleration ratio based on the assumed approaching speed defined by the present speed, distance to the curved road and the condition of the curved road. Based on the target deceleration ratio, a shifting stage determination means 12 determines the stage of an automatic transmission 11 which attains desirable engine braking effect with the deceleration ratio almost of the target one, while not exceeding the target deceleration ratio. When shortage occurs, it is compensated by deceleration obtained by braking a brake actuator. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible the large equivalent gear ratio of a thrust actuator driven by motor and generate its large thrust without making small the number of the teeth of its input gears, by configuring each of its reduction gears through the gear train comprising the combination of gears whose number is not smaller than a specific one. SOLUTION: A reduction gear is configured by the combination of three or more gears. Providing a front-side sun gear 1f at the left end of a rotor 1b and a rear-side sun gear 1g at the right end of the rotor 1b, one-portions of front-side and rear-side reduction gears 2, 3 are configured respectively. The front-side and rear-side reduction gears 2, 3 comprise respective two front-side and rear-side planetary gears 2b, 3b provided respectively around the front-side and rear-side sun gears 1f, 1g, and respective two front-side and rear-side internal gears 2a, 3a provided respectively on the outsides of the gears 2b, 3b and in an actuator housing 7. The respective two front-side and rear-side planetary gears 2b, 3b are all fastened rotatably to front-side and rear-side planet carriers 2d, 3d by axes 2c, 3c. As a result, changing the numbers of the teeth of the internal gears 2a, 3a and sun gears 1f, 1g one by one on the front and rear sides, the large equivalent gear ratio of a thrust actuator driven by motor can be achieved.
