The driving support device is provided with an information acquisition unit which acquires driving support information including a state of the vehicle and a state of vehicle surroundings; a reverse warning sound management unit which manages reverse warning sounds belonging to a musical scale in which a reverse warning sound is deemed to be the tonic, as musical scale reverse warning sounds; an output reverse warning sound determination unit which determines the flow of the musical scale of the time-sequential reverse warning sounds corresponding to the driving support information; and a reverse warning sound output control unit which selects the reverse warning sound corresponding to the flow of musical scale determined by the output reverse warning sound determination unit from among the reverse warning sounds managed by the reverse warning sound management unit and outputs the selected reverse warning sound to a loudspeaker.

Driving support device

An object detection system of a vehicle includes a time-of-flight (TOF) sensor that receives a reflected object detection signal at a second time based on an object detection signal transmitted at a first time. An image sensor generates an image signal including an image of a detected object. The image sensor is distinct from and adjacent to the TOF sensor. A TOF control module generates distance data based on the first time and the second time and determines whether at least a portion of a detected object is within a predetermined distance of the vehicle. An image control module generates image data based on the image signal. A detection control module correlates the distance data with the image data to generate a warning indicator when at least a portion of the detected object is within the predetermined distance of the vehicle.

Combined time-of-flight and image sensor systems

When a vehicle starts, a surrounding state is securely provided to a driver. When a vehicle operation detector detects that there is a possibility that a parked vehicle starts, a vehicle surrounding state recognizer recognizes a state of surrounding of the vehicle based on images imaged by a plurality of cameras imaging a plurality of different areas of the surrounding of the vehicle. A parking style determiner determines a parking style executed in parking at a position where the vehicle now parks based on a recognition result of the vehicle surrounding state recognizer. A monitoring area setter sets a monitoring area where a driver is required to pay attention when the vehicle is started based on a determination result of the parking style determiner. A vehicle surrounding state provider provides a driver with information provision in the monitoring area.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in distance estimation between an own vehicle and an obstacle.SOLUTION: A perpendicularity component extraction part 13 extracts a normal vector of an obstacle such as a building from an image captured by a video camera 11. On the basis of the extracted normal vector, a ramp determination part 15 determines whether it is a ramp and calculates a slope angle when it is a ramp. A reference normal vector is extracted from an image previously captured by the camera 11 and distance data between each pixel of the image and the own vehicle is stored in a memory 10. When there are a flat road and a ramp from the own vehicle to the obstacle, a distance from a boundary between the flat rad ant the ramp to the obstacle is corrected on the slope angle so as to improve accuracy in distance estimation from the own vehicle to the obstacle.
