We define new invariants of 3d Calabi-Yau categories endowed with a stability structure. Intuitively, they count the number of semistable objects with fixed class in the K-theory of the category ('number of BPS states with given charge' in physics language). Formally, our motivic DT-invariants are elements of quantum tori over a version of the Grothendieck ring of varieties over the ground field. Via the quasi-classical limit 'as the motive of affine line approaches to 1' we obtain numerical DT-invariants which are closely related to those introduced by Behrend. We study some properties of both motivic and numerical DT-invariants including the wall-crossing formulas and integrality. We discuss the relationship with the mathematical works (in the non-triangulated case) of Joyce, Bridgeland and Toledano-Laredo, as well as with works of physicists on Seiberg-Witten model (string junctions), classification of N=2 supersymmetric theories (Cecotti-Vafa) and structure of the moduli space of vector multiplets. Relating the theory of 3d Calabi-Yau categories with distinguished set of generators (called cluster collection) with the theory of quivers with potential we found the connection with cluster transformations and cluster varieties (both classical and quantum).

Stability structures, motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants and cluster transformations

We consider BPS states in a large class of d=4, N=2 field theories, obtained by reducing six-dimensional (2,0) superconformal field theories on Riemann surfaces, with defect operators inserted at points of the Riemann surface. Further dimensional reduction on S^1 yields sigma models, whose target spaces are moduli spaces of Higgs bundles on Riemann surfaces with ramification. In the case where the Higgs bundles have rank 2, we construct canonical Darboux coordinate systems on their moduli spaces. These coordinate systems are related to one another by Poisson transformations associated to BPS states, and have well-controlled asymptotic behavior, obtained from the WKB approximation. The existence of these coordinates implies the Kontsevich-Soibelman wall-crossing formula for the BPS spectrum. This construction provides a concrete realization of a general physical explanation of the wall-crossing formula which was proposed in 0807.4723. It also yields a new method for computing the spectrum using the combinatorics of triangulations of the Riemann surface.

Wall-crossing, Hitchin Systems, and the WKB Approximation

We study four dimensional N=2 supersymmetric gauge theory in the Omega-background with the two dimensional N=2 super-Poincare invariance. We explain how this gauge theory provides the quantization of the classical integrable system underlying the moduli space of vacua of the ordinary four dimensional N=2 theory. 
The epsilon-parameter of the Omega-background is identified with the Planck constant, the twisted chiral ring maps to quantum Hamiltonians, the supersymmetric vacua are identified with Bethe states of quantum integrable systems. This four dimensional gauge theory in its low energy description has two dimensional twisted superpotential which becomes the Yang-Yang function of the integrable system. We present the thermodynamic-Bethe-ansatz like formulae for these functions and for the spectra of commuting Hamiltonians following the direct computation in gauge theory. The general construction is illustrated at the examples of the many-body systems, such as the periodic Toda chain, the elliptic Calogero-Moser system, and their relativistic versions, for which we present a complete characterization of the L^2-spectrum. We very briefly discuss the quantization of Hitchin system.

Quantization of Integrable Systems and Four Dimensional Gauge Theories

Let G be an inner form of a general linear group over a non-archimedean local field. We prove that the local Langlands correspondence for G preserves depths. We also show that the local Langlands correspondence for inner forms of special linear groups preserves the depths of essentially tame Langlands parameters.

Calabi-Yau algebras

We define a new type of Hall algebras associated e.g. with quivers with polynomial potentials. The main difference with the conventional definition is that we use cohomology of the stack of representations instead of constructible sheaves or functions. In order to take into account the potential we introduce a generalization of theory of mixed Hodge structures, related to exponential integrals. Generating series of our Cohomological Hall algebra is a generalization of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants introduced in arXiv:0811.2435. Also we prove a new integrality property of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants.

Cohomological Hall algebra, exponential Hodge structures and motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants

In this paper we propose a way to construct an analytic space over a non-archimedean field, starting with a real manifold with an affine structure which has integral monodromy. Our construction is motivated by the junction of the Homological Mirror conjecture and the geometric Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture. In particular, we glue from “flat pieces” an analytic K3 surface. As a byproduct of our approach we obtain an action of an arithmetic subgroup of the group SO(1, 18) by piecewise-linear transformations on the two-dimensional sphere S 2 equipped with naturally defined singular affine structure.

Affine Structures and Non-Archimedean Analytic Spaces

This is a short summary of main results of our paper arXiv:0811.2435 where the concept of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariant was introduced. It also contains a discussion of some open questions from the loc.cit., in particular, the geometry related to the split attractor flow.

Motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants: Summary of results

We develop geometric approach to A-infinity algebras and A-infinity categories based on the notion of formal scheme in the category of graded vector spaces. Geometric approach clarifies several questions, e.g. the notion of homological unit or A-infinity structure on A-infinity functors. We discuss Hochschild complexes of A-infinity algebras from geometric point of view. The paper contains homological versions of the notions of properness and smoothness of projective varieties as well as the non-commutative version of Hodge-to-de Rham degeneration conjecture. We also discuss a generalization of Deligne's conjecture which includes both Hochschild chains and cochains. We conclude the paper with the description of an action of the PROP of singular chains of the topological PROP of 2-dimensional surfaces on the Hochschild chain complex of an A-infinity algebra with the scalar product (this action is more or less equivalent to the structure of 2-dimensional Topological Field Theory associated with an "abstract" Calabi-Yau manifold).
