Automation of farm activities can transform agricultural domain from being manual and static to intelligent and dynamic leading to higher production with lesser human supervision. This paper proposes an automated irrigation system which monitors and maintains the desired soil moisture content via automatic watering. Microcontroller ATMEGA328P on arduino uno platform is used to implement the control unit. The setup uses soil moisture sensors which measure the exact moisture level in soil. This value enables the system to use appropriate quantity of water which avoids over/under irrigation. IOT is used to keep the farmers updated about the status of sprinklers. Information from the sensors is regularly updated on a webpage using GSM-GPRS SIM900A modem through which a farmer can check whether the water sprinklers are ON/OFF at any given time. Also, the sensor readings are transmitted to a Thing speak channel to generate graphs for analysis.

IOT based Smart Irrigation System

Over the past few years, there has been significant interest in designing smart agricultural systems. The use of smart farming techniques can enhance the crop yield, while simultaneously generating more output from the same amount of input. But still, most of the farmers are unaware of the latest technologies and practices. In this paper a novel wireless mobile robot based on Internet of Things (IoT) is designed and implemented for performing various operations on the field. This proposed wireless robot is equipped with various sensors for measuring different environmental parameters. It also includes Raspberry Pi 2 model B hardware for executing the whole process. The main features of this novel intelligent wireless robot is that it can execute tasks such as moisture sensing, scaring birds and animals, spraying pesticides, moving forward or backward and switching ON/OFF electric motor. The robot is fitted with a wireless camera to monitor the activities in real time. The proposed wireless mobile robot has been tested in the fields, readings have been monitored and satisfactory results have been observed, which indicate that this system is very much useful for smart agricultural systems.

Internet of Things application for implementation of smart agriculture system

past few years, automatic irrigation system has seen a rapid growth in terms of technology. At present cost-saving technology, labor-saving are the addressing key issues in irrigation. This paper gives a review of these systems based on existing technologies and also proposes an economical and generic automatic irrigation system based on wireless sensors with GSM-Bluetooth for irrigation system controller and remote monitoring system. This system has simpler features designed with the objective of low cost and effective with less power consumption using sensors for remote monitoring and controlling devices which are controlled via SMS using a GSM module. A Bluetooth module is also interfaced with the main microcontroller chip. This Bluetooth module eliminates the usage charges by communicating with the appliances via Bluetooth when the application is in a limited range of few meters. The system informs user about any abnormal conditions like less moisture content and temperature rise, even concentration of CO2 via SMS from the GSM module or by Bluetooth module to the farmer's mobile and actions are taken accordingly by the farmer. Design of Remote Monitoring and Control System with Automatic Irrigation System using GSM-Bluetooth

The usage of Wireless Sensor Networks has become essentially important in recent years because of their ability to manage real-time data for various novel services. In this paper a novel ZigBee based energy efficient environmental monitoring, alerting and controlling system for agriculture is designed and implemented. This system utilizes an ARM7 processor, various sensors and ZigBee communication module. Sensors gather various physical data from the field in real time and transmit it to the processor and to the end user via ZigBee communication. Then necessary actions are initiated to perform action on behalf of people to reduce or eliminate the need of human labor. A wireless camera is connected to the processor to monitor the activities in real time. The proposed system has been tested for a month and satisfactory results have been observed, which indicate that this system is very useful for greenhouse environment monitoring, alerting and controlling various physical parameters in the field.

A ZigBee based energy efficient environmental monitoring alerting and controlling system

The title itself indicates that the system checks the moisture content in the soil, based on that pumping motor will automatically pumps the water into the field. Here we are using soil moisture sensor. By using this sensor, we can find whether the soil is wet or dry. If it is dry, pumping motor will pump the water. In this system, the main controlling device is microcontroller. Here soil sensor will give the status of the soil to the microcontroller, based on that microcontroller will display the status of the soil on the LCD and switch on or off the pumping motor through relay. The pumping motor will pump the water into the field by using drip water system until the field is wet which is continuously monitor by the microcontroller. In irrigation process, most parameter of monitoring is soil, so we have to monitor the soil condition, whether the soil is dry or Wet. If it is dry, then by using pumping motor, water has to be pumped automatically. The main aim of our system presenting here is to monitor the moisture content in the soil in cultivating field. Based on soil moisture, pumping motor will be automatically switch on or off through relay. This saves the water at the same time and on the other hand the plant can get optimum level of water, so increasing productivity of crop. Advance Technique for Soil Moisture Content Based Automatic Motor Pumping for Agriculture Land Purpose

A remote measurement and control system of large-scale greenhouse was developed based on GSM-SMS. The whole system consists of a central station and base stations. The central station is composed by a PC server along with its application software, the GSM module, and the database system. The base station consists of a microcontroller, sensors, the operation administer, and GSM module. Modularization is adopted in the design of the system hardware; and the software exploitation is realized by embedded operating system, all of which make the system easy to be extended, maintained and transplanted. The remote monitoring system can also realize remote real-time data analyzing and processing.

A Remote Measurement and Control System for Greenhouse Based on GSM-SMS

This remote monitoring system of power network was developed by using the virtual instrument technology, network technology and database technology. The basic structure of the system is Browser/Server mode. Through Internet Explorer, remote client can browse the real-time monitoring data of power network, such as frequency; power factor; virtual value of voltage and current, etc. In the system, the wavelet transform was applied to virtual instrument by using the MATLAB script node in LabVIEW, and utilizes denoising method of sqtwolog soft threshold to eliminate the high-frequency noise. The remote storage and query for a large quantity of data in power network monitoring was realized by using ADO in LabVIEW, remote panel technology built-in LabVIEW 7 Express was applied to satisfy the real-time data display of remote monitoring.
