Morphology control of eco-friendly chitosan-derived carbon aerogels for efficient microwave absorption at thin thickness and thermal stealth

Rationally designed multiple hydroxyl-group-based chemosensors L1-L4 containing arene-based fluorophores are presented for the selective detection of Al3+ and Ga3+ ions. Changes in the absorption and emission spectra of L1-L4 in ethanol were easily observable upon the addition of Al3+ and Ga3+ ions. Competitive binding studies, detection limits, and binding constants illustrate significant sensing abilities of these chemosensors with L4, showing the best results. The interaction of Al3+/Ga3+ ions with chemosensor L4 was investigated by fluorescence lifetime measurements, whereas Job's plot, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and 1H NMR spectral titrations substantiated the stoichiometry between L4 and Al3+/Ga3+ ions. The solution-generated [L-M3+] species further detected pyrophosphate ion (PPi) by exhibiting emission enhancement and a visible color change. The binding of Al3+/Ga3+ ions with chemosensor L4 was further supported by density functional theory studies. Reversibility for the detection of Al3+/Ga3+ ions was achieved by utilizing a suitable proton source. The multiionic response, reversibility, and optical visualization of the present chemosensors make them ideal for practical applications for real samples, which have been illustrated by paper-strip as well as polystyrene film-based detection.

In this work, we put forward a scheme to exquisitely design and selectively synthesize the core@shell structured MSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 (M = Co, Ni) flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites (MCNCs) through a simple two-step hydrothermal reaction on the surfaces of MFe2O4 nanospheres with the certain amounts of Mo and Se sources. With increasing the amounts of Mo and Se sources, the obtained core@shell structured MSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 (M = Co, Ni) MCNCs with the enhanced content of MoSe2 and improved flower-like geometry morphology could be produced on a large scale. The obtained results revealed that the as-prepared samples displayed improved comprehensive microwave absorption properties (CMAPs) with the increased amounts of Mo and Se sources. The as-prepared CoSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 and NiSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 MCNCs with the well-defined flower-like morphology could simultaneously present the outstanding CMAPs in terms of strong absorption capability, wide absorption bandwidth, and thin matching thicknesses, which mainly originated from the conduction loss and flower-like geometry morphology. Therefore, the findings not only develop the very desirable candidates for high-performance microwave absorption materials but also pave a new way for optimizing the CMAPs through tailoring morphology engineering. 

Microstructure optimization of core@shell structured MSe2/FeSe2@MoSe2 (M = Co, Ni) flower-like multicomponent nanocomposites towards high-efficiency microwave absorption

A novel turn on and reversible sensor for Al3+ and its applications in bioimaging

Research on copperII 1,10-phenanththroline (phen) derivatives continues to attract interest in the context of structure and biological properties. In this paper, two metal complexes [Cu2(phen)2(μ-Cl)2]Cl2 (1), [Zn(phen)2(H2O)Cl]Cl·4H2O (2) were synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 were determined by X-ray diffraction. In order to investigate the biological properties of the prepared complexes, spectroscopic and biological studies were performed. Results of X-ray diffraction showed that 1 and 2 form two types of crystal structures in a given system: dinuclear and mono-nuclear complex. The preliminary study on the DNA cleavage activity has shown that 1 under study behaved as the chemical nucleases. The DNA binding interaction of 1 & 2 with CT-DNA has been investigated by UV–Visible and fluorescence emission spectrometry and the apparent binding constant (K
 app) values are 5.1 × 104 and 1.2 × 104 M−1, respectively. In addition, fluorescence spectrometry of bovine serum albumin (BSA) with 1 & 2 showed that the quenching mechanism might be a static quenching procedure with one binding sites for BSA. In addition, the cytotoxicity of 1 in vitro on tumor cells lines (MCF-7, HepG2 and HT29) was examined by MTT and showed better antitumor effect on the tested cells.
