This paper presents a novel dual-band wearable antenna using Rectangular Parasitic Elements (RPEs) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS) methods in telemedicine applications. The dual-band ranges covered by this antenna are in 890–960 MHz and 1710–1885 MHz which are used in Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) applications. Wearable and flexible material that is used as the substrate is a standard rubber with dielectric constant er = 3, thickness = 1.57 mm, and tan (δ) = 0.0095. The dimensions of the proposed wearable antenna are 70 × 85 × 1.64 mm3 or 0.0007λg3 at 900 MHz. The measured maximum gain is achieved at 900 MHz and 1800 MHz, which are equal to 7.46 dB and 8.13 dB, respectively. A good agreement between simulation and experimental results are obtained by a fabricated prototype of the antenna. Therefore, the results represent this antenna is a promising candidate in biomedical technology such as tele-monitoring at the GSM bands.

Design investigation of a dual-band wearable antenna for tele-monitoring applications

In this paper, a wearable antenna pressure sensor with electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) is proposed, which can be used to monitor the walking and fall states of the elderly. When the elderly walks and falls suddenly, the knee or elbow wearing the antenna sensor will touch the ground and put a lot of pressure on the antenna sensor, resulting in the resonance frequency shifts. The proposed antenna sensor is fabricated on flexible silicone substrate and works in the 2.45 GHz industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band. A 3 × 3 EBG array is designed to reduce the specific absorption rate (SAR) of the antenna to the human body and increase the forward peak gain of the antenna from 1.63dBi to 4.36dBi. Furthermore, the antenna sensor exhibits high sensitivity of about 11 MHz/N to the pressure. To verify the simulated results, the sensing properties of the wearable antenna sensor were measured. The measured results have been found to be consistent with the simulated ones. Moreover, the bending performance study and SAR analysis reveal that the proposed antenna sensor is a good candidate for wearable devices.

To avoid dire situations, the medical sector must develop various methods for quickly and accurately identifying infections in remote regions. The primary goal of the proposed work is to create a wearable device that uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to carry out several monitoring tasks. To decrease the amount of communication loss as well as the amount of time required to wait before detection and improve detection quality, the designed wearable device is also operated with a multi-objective framework. Additionally, a design method for wearable IoT devices is established, utilizing distinct mathematical approaches to solve these objectives. As a result, the monitored parametric values are saved in a different IoT application platform. Since the proposed study focuses on a multi-objective framework, state design and deep learning (DL) optimization techniques are combined, reducing the complexity of detection in wearable technology. Wearable devices with IoT processes have even been included in current methods. However, a solution cannot be duplicated using mathematical approaches and optimization strategies. Therefore, developed wearable gadgets can be applied to real-time medical applications for fast remote monitoring of an individual. Additionally, the proposed technique is tested in real-time, and an IoT simulation tool is utilized to track the compared experimental results under five different situations. In all of the case studies that were examined, the planned method performs better than the current state-of-the-art methods.

Mathematical Framework for Wearable Devices in the Internet of Things Using Deep Learning

|In recent times, the study of (cid:13)exible wireless devices has attracted ample attention in the (cid:12)elds of biomedicine and healthcare. Biomedical systems are becoming more popular and employed to (cid:12)nd harmful elements within human bodies. A portable biomedical device makes use of a contacting or non-contacting way to (cid:12)nd tumours inside the human body. In view of this, a compact two-slot hexagonal shape (cid:13)exible wideband microstrip antenna for healthcare application is presented. The proposed antenna is designed using a low-cost, light-weight, and broadly accessible (cid:13)exible foam material. The slots incorporated into the geometry have enriched the percentage bandwidth of 106.67% with a total gain of 4.67 dBi. The (cid:13)exible wideband antenna of dimension 28 (cid:2) 26 (cid:2) 2 mm 3 is fabricated using copper foil. The designed and fabricated antenna operates over the frequency of 2.94 to 9.66 GHz resulting in three diﬀerent resonating frequencies; 3.8 GHz, 6.7 GHz, and 9.1 GHz. The (cid:13)exible antenna is tested under diﬀerent bending conditions and obtains good performance to substantiate (cid:13)exibility. The Speci(cid:12)c Absorption Rate (SAR) analysis is also performed over a three-layer tissue equivalent body model and observes a maximum SAR value of 1.9 W/kg less than the safety limit of 2 W/kg for 10 gm of tissue. A good agreement is observed between the simulated and measured results of the proposed antenna for free space and human proximity.
