Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological characteristics of AFP-168 (tafluprost), a new prostanoid FP receptor agonist, as an ocular hypotensive drug.
Yasutaka Takagi,Tadashi Nakajima,Atsushi Shimazaki,Masaaki Kageyama,Takeshi Matsugi,Yasushi Matsumura,B'Ann T. Gabelt,Paul L. Kaufman,Hideaki Hara +8 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that AFP-168 has a high affinity for the prostanoid FP receptor, has potent IOP-lowering effects in both ocular normotensive and hypertensive monkeys that exceed those of latanoprost, and has less stimulating effect on melanogenesis in melanoma cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
New fluoroprostaglandin F2α derivatives with prostanoid FP-receptor agonistic activity as potent ocular-hypotensive agents
Tadashi Nakajima,Takeshi Matsugi,Wakana Goto,Masaaki Kageyama,Nobuaki Mori,Yasushi Matsumura,Hideaki Hara +6 more
TL;DR: 15,15-difluoroprostaglandin F(2alpha) derivatives, especially AFP-168, have more potent prostanoid FP-receptor agonistic activities than latanoprost, and may be worthy of further evaluation as an ocular-hypotensive agent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of the highly potent prostanoid FP receptor agonist, AFP-168: a novel 15-deoxy-15,15-difluoroprostaglandin F2α derivative
Yasushi Matsumura,Nobuaki Mori,Takashi Nakano,Hideshi Sasakura,Takeshi Matsugi,Hideaki Hara,Yoshitomi Morizawa +6 more
TL;DR: A 15-deoxy-15,15-difluoro-prostaglandin(PG)F 2α derivative 6 (AFP-168) has been synthesized from the Corey aldehyde in six steps as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of Novel Difluoroprostacyclin Derivatives: Unprecedented Stabilizing Effect of Fluorine Substituents
Patent
Difluoroprostaglandin derivatives and their use
Eiichi Shirasawa,Masaaki Kageyama,Tadashi Nakajima,Takashi Nakano,Nobuaki Mori,Hidefumi Sasakura,Yasushi Matsumura,Yoshitomi Morizawa +7 more
TL;DR: A fluorine-containing prostaglandin derivative of the formula (1) (or a salt thereof) and a medicine containing it, particularly, a preventive or therapeutic medicine for an eye disease: as discussed by the authors.
