A system of secure communications between multiple parties. This system uses an index/secure key combination for each party. The index key never changes its value. A secured central router with access to a master database uses index keys to look up corresponding secure keys in the master database. The central router uses the secure keys to decrypt messages sent by parties and reencrypt the messages for the recipients and, thus, acts as a conduit for secure communications between parties.

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for performing cryptographic operations on a plurality of message blocks within a processor to generate a message digest. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes translation logic and execution logic. The translation logic receives a cryptographic instruction from a source therefrom, where the cryptographic instruction prescribes generation of the message digest according to one of the cryptographic operations. The translation logic also translates the cryptographic instruction into a sequence of micro instructions specifying sub-operations required to accomplish generation of the message digest according to the one of the cryptographic operations. The execution logic is operatively coupled to the translation logic. The execution logic receives the sequence of micro instructions, and performs the sub-operations to generate the message digest.

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for performing cryptographic operations. In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided for performing cryptographic operations. The apparatus includes a cryptographic instruction, keygen logic, and execution logic. The cryptographic instruction is received by a computing device as part of an instruction flow executing on the computing device. The cryptographic instruction prescribes one of the cryptographic operations, and also prescribes that a provided cryptographic key be expanded into a corresponding key schedule for employment during execution of the one of the cryptographic operations. Microprocessor apparatus and method for providing configurable cryptographic key size

Self-synchronizing encryption/decoding circuits are provided with a plurality of irreducible polynomials. An irreducible polynomial to be used in encryption between sending and receiving stations is selected prior to cipher communication. On the sending side, the selected irreducible polynomial is used to encrypt communication information to be transmitted. On the receiving side, the selected irreducible polynomial is used to decrypt communication information that is received. Use of an irreducible polynomial as a key provides a simple structure which eliminates the effects of missing data and enables encryption and decoding with communication lines on which gaps readily occur in the data being communicated.
