Drag and added mass coefficients of a flexible pipe undergoing vortex-induced vibration in an oscillatory flow

TL;DR: In this paper, the drag and added mass coefficients of a flexible pipe undergoing vortex-induced vibration (VIV) in an oscillatory flow are investigated experimentally with maximum reduced velocities ranging from 4 to 7.9 and Keulegan-Carpenter (KC) numbers ranging from 10 to 178.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnification of hydrodynamic coefficients on a flexible pipe fitted with helical strakes in oscillatory flows

TL;DR: In this paper, the features of hydrodynamic coefficients including drag and added mass coefficients on a flexible pipe fitted with helical strakes in an oscillatory flow are studied experimentally.
Journal ArticleDOI

Generation Mechanism and Reduction Method of Induced Drag Produced by Interacting Wingtip Vortex System

TL;DR: In this paper, the formation and evolution of a wingtip vortex system generated from three wing configurations were simulated with the improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES) method, and it was shown that each layout produces an interacting wing tip vortex system, and a lower induced drag can be obtained when the merger of wingtip and winglet-tip vortex is controlled and eliminated.
