Partial discharge and breakdown characteristics of moving transformer oil contaminated by metallic particles

TL;DR: In this article, a simulation model including electric field and fluid field was employed to study the moving trajectory of particles in flowing transformer oil, and the breakdown voltage, as affected by oil flow velocity, particle size and concentration were discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of velocity on partial discharge characteristics of moving metal particles in transformer oil using UHF technique

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of flow velocity on the characteristic parameters of PD was examined, and it was shown that an increase in flow velocity reduces PD possibly because of particle oscillation within the system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation of Discharge Characteristics With Temperature in Moving Transformer Oil Contaminated by Metallic Particles

TL;DR: The influences of temperature on partial discharge (PD) and breakdown characteristics of moving transformer oil contaminated by metallic particles were experimentally studied and it was found that the PD magnitude and frequency first decreased and then became higher when the temperature increased, and a minimum point appeared between 70 °C and 80 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Role of air bubbles in the breakdown of flowing transformer oil

TL;DR: In this paper, a liquid circulation system is constructed whereby gas bubble dynamics and electrical signal evolution preceding the oil gap breakdown are registered in stationary and flowing transformer oil, and two types of breakdown are classified: one takes place after bubble growth and originates in the bubble or the mixture of liquid and gas when the applied voltage is in the negative half-cycle; the other follows streamers resulting from the protrusion of bubble tip in the positive half cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of oil velocity on partial discharge characteristics induced by bubbles in transformer oil

TL;DR: In this paper, a finite element method was employed to simulate the movement process and deformation of bubbles, as well as electric field distribution under the conditions with different oil flow rates.
