The present invention provides a rack-and-pinion steering apparatus capable of effectively reducing reverse input, while a high degree of design freedom is secured. The sum of the tilt angle of a rack tooth with respect to a reference line perpendicular to the axial line of a rack shaft and the tilt angle of a pinion tooth with respect to the axial line of a pinion shaft does not coincide with the tilt angle of the axial line of the pinion shaft with respect to the reference line. Crowning is given on the tooth surface of the rack tooth (or the pinion tooth) in order to decrease the tooth width on one end side in the direction of tooth trace and to increase the tooth width on the other end side according to the state of contact with the pinion tooth (or the rack tooth) opposed thereto.

The invention relates to an improved method for optimally designing noise of a bevel gear, belonging to the field of optimal design of transmission gears. The invention provides an improved method for optimally designing a main parameter of a bevel gear of a transmission through an Ishikawa method based on a material mechanics theory; by means of the method, the gear engagement transmission error can be reduced; therefore, vibration and noise in an engaging process can be reduced; the service life is increased; and the driving and riding comfort is improved. The method disclosed by the invention comprises the following steps: (1), establishing a calculation model of the dynamic engagement stiffness and the dynamic transmission error in the engagement process of the bevel gear, wherein the calculation model is used for calculating a fluctuation value of the dynamic engagement transmission error of the bevel gear; (2), based on the calculation model obtained in the step (1) and gear design regulatory requirements, establishing an optimal design model of the main parameter of the bevel gear of the transmission aiming to reduce the noise and the volume and simultaneously ensure the intensity and the reliability in the use process, and optimally designing the bevel gear of the transmission; and (3), checking an optimal parameter obtained by optimal design so as to ensure the accuracy of an optimal result.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the fluctuation of a mesh transmission error, the fluctuation of relative relation of' a gear pair, so as to reduce vibration and noise. SOLUTION: In a triaxial gearing provided with a uniaxial gear and a triaxial gear respectively meshed with a biaxial gear, the gear tooth modifying quantity is determined on the basis of a mesh pressure angle and a helix angle of a base circle in addition to a parallelism error and a stagger error between shafts meshing with teeth. The tooth surface modifying quantity is maximum at the middle 73 from one end 71 of a modifying range to the other end 72 in a face width direction and is minimum at one end 71 and the other end 72, and the modifying quantities at one end and the other end are different within a fixed range.
