A miniature hydro-power generation system includes an outer housing and an inner housing. The outer housing may receive a flow of liquid flowing in a first direction at a predetermined range of pressure. The flow of liquid may be decreased by a predetermined amount of pressure and increased by a predetermined amount of velocity and channeled to a hydro-generator included in the inner housing with an inlet nozzle. The flow of liquid may be channeled with the inlet nozzle to flow in a second direction that is substantially perpendicular to the first direction. Upon transfer of kinetic energy in the flow of liquid to the hydro-generator, the inner housing may rotate in the second direction. The flow of liquid may then be channeled back to the first direction and out of the housing with an outlet nozzle. The outlet nozzle configured to increase the pressure and decrease the velocity of the flow of liquid to minimized non-laminar flow characteristics.

A fluid flow control system that includes a fluid inlet to receive a flow of process fluid and a plurality of fluid outlets. The plurality of fluid outlets include a first fluid outlet and at least one second fluid outlet. The first fluid outlet provides a first predetermined portion of the flow of process fluid, and the at least one second fluid outlet provides the remaining portion of the flow of process fluid. In one embodiment, the control system includes a pressure transducer, first and second multipliers, and first and second flow controllers. The first multiplier multiplies a pressure signal received from the pressure transducer by a first setpoint to control a first flow controller that provides the first predetermined portion of the flow of process fluid. The second multiplier multiplies the pressure signal by a second setpoint to control a second flow controller that provides the remaining portion.

A liquid treatment system that may be self-powered includes a filter, an ultraviolet light source and a hydro-generator in a first flow path. The first flow path may provide treated liquid at a first outlet of the liquid treatment system. A second flow path included in the liquid treatment system may provide untreated liquid at a second outlet of the liquid treatment system. The first and second flow paths may be included in a housing, and may be selectable with a switching mechanism by a user of the liquid treatment system. The housing may be mounted at the end of a faucet. The hydro-generator may generate electric power for use by the ultraviolet light source and a processor. The processor may monitor the electric power and energize the ultraviolet light source with the electric power when the rotational speed of the hydro-generator enters a determined range.

Development of a calibration facility for small mass flow rates of gas and the uncertainty of a sonic venturi transfer standard

A control circuit (20) of a mass flow control device (1) retains the relation (Cd=f(ReTH)) between the Reynolds number and the actual discharge coefficient of a sonic nozzle (13) in the area where the Reynolds number is small. In such an area, the sonic nozzle can be used as a variable mass flow element for controlling mass flow rate. If a pressure Pu and a temperature Tu of an upstream fluid of the sonic nozzle 13 are detected, the theoretical mass flow rate QmTH and the theoretical Reynolds number ReTH can be calculated; since the actual discharge coefficient Cd can be calculated by the above relationship Cd=f(ReTH) based on the calculated Reynolds number, the actual mass flow rate Qm can be calculated based on the relation of Qm=Cd·QmTH. In the control circuit 20, in order to obtain the predetermined mass flow rate Qm, the upstream fluid pressure Pu and temperature Tu of the sonic nozzle are obtained based on the above relationship, and a variable valve (12) is driven so that the mass flow rate may have this value. Since the properties of the sonic nozzle can be made full use of, it is possible to control trace amounts of mass flow rate with extremely high accuracy.
