On physical foundations and observational effects of cosmic rotation

The main scope of this research consists in evaluating the energy-momentum (gravitational field plus matter) and gravitational angular momentum densities in the universe with global rotation, considering the Godel—Obukhov metric. To do that, we use the Hamiltonian formalism of the Teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR), which is justified for presenting covariant expressions for the quantities under consideration. We have found that the total energy density calculated by the TEGR method is in agreement with the results reported by other authors in the literature using pseudotensors. The result found for the angular momentum density depends on the rotational parameter, as expected. We also show explicitly the equivalence among the field equations of the TEGR and the Einstein equations (GR), considering a perfect fluid and the Godel—Obukhov metric.

Energy and angular momentum densities in a Gödel-type universe in teleparallel geometry

We examine the Type 1a supernova data in order to determine if it shows any signal of large scale anisotropy. The anisotropy is modelled by an extended Godel metric, which incorporates expansion along with rotation. The model is smoothly connected to the usual FRW type, while expressing anisotropic metric effects depending on certain parameters. We find no significant signal of anisotropy in the data. We obtain bounds on an anisotropic redshift versus magnitude relationship, and accompanying parameters of the Godel-Obukhov metric.

SEARCH FOR GLOBAL METRIC ANISOTROPY IN TYPE 1a SUPERNOVA DATA

This paper analyzes the problem of global rotation in general relativity (GR) theory. Simple cosmological models with rotation and expansion are presented, which give a natural explanation of the modern values of the acceleration parameter at different red shifts without involving the concepts of “dark energy” and “dark matter”. It is shown that due to the smallness of the cosmological rotation, for its detection one should use observations that do not depend on the magnitude of the angular velocity of the Universe. Such tests include the effects of the cosmic mirror and the cosmic lens. For the first time on the basis of modern electronic catalogs the search on the celestial sphere of images of our Galaxy and other galaxies is made. Viable candidates for both effects have been found.
