El artículo tiene como objetivo evaluar el nivel de desarrollo de la capacidad de absorción realizada (RACAP) en las Pyme colombianas. Se parte de una muestra de 363 Pyme colombianas (Dane,2012), se usa una revisión de literatura con apoyo del análisis de contenido y un modelo de regresión lineal, que permiten mostrar la existencia de una correlación lineal positiva entre la adquisición y asimilación del conocimiento externo en las organizaciones objeto de estudio,. Measurement of potential absorption capacity in Colombia's innovative companies [Medición de la capacidad de absorción potencial en las empresas innovadoras de Colombia]

In this study, we are interested in how export firms organize knowledge management and increase product innovation performance. Prior studies have concluded that knowledge transfer from external actors leads to operational performance outcomes; others have questioned the positive influence of buyer‐driven knowledge transfer activities on innovation performance. Drawing on absorptive capacity, we aim to offer a better understanding, how export firms as recipients of knowledge resources, organize their internal capabilities in order to realize firm‐level product innovation. This empirical study examines the interplay of buyer‐driven knowledge activities, resource acquisition and combining, and product innovation outcomes in the context of Pakistani export firms. Drawing on survey data from 239 export‐manufacturing firms, we test hypotheses using structural equation modeling. Our findings show that buyer‐driven knowledge transfer activities play a crucial role in enhancing export firms in absorbing and combining resources that lead to product innovation. The pragmatic suggestion of the research suggests that managers look closely at developing a culture of involvement with their buyers that promotes the development of knowledge resources. The results of this study have research, policy, and managerial implications.

Exploring the effect of buyer engagement on green product innovation: Empirical evidence from manufacturers

Research analyzing the importance of human capital for innovation usually focuses on secondary and tertiary education. This paper takes a different perspective by focusing on in-firm training. We argue that continuous training guarantees access to leading-edge knowledge and thus increases a firm’s propensity to innovate. Using German establishment-level data, we show a strong association between lagged continuous training and innovation. Applying instrumental variable methods, we cautiously argue that the association between training and innovation is indeed a causal effect. In the quest for a relevant and valid instrument, we exploit legal regulations of the German Works Constitution Act.

Training and innovation

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impacts of research and development (R&D) investment and environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance on green innovation performance. This paper also investigates the moderating effect of ESG performance between R&D investment and green innovation performance.,The study uses the data of 223 Chinese listed companies over the period 2015–2018. The ESG indices issued by SynTao Green Finance are used to measure ESG performance. Green innovation performance is measured by the total number of green patents, the number of green invention patents and the number of green non-invention patents. Finally, multiple regression analysis is applied to test the research hypotheses.,The results show that R&D investment has a positive impact on green innovation performance and ESG performance can increase the number of green invention patents. In addition, ESG performance moderates the relationship between R&D investment and green innovation performance.,The findings may help managers and policymakers in developing countries to make ecological innovation strategies to achieve corporate sustainability.,This is the first study to examine the impacts of R&D investment and ESG performance on green innovation performance in the context of China, an emerging market.

R&D investment, ESG performance and green innovation performance: evidence from China

Coupled with the increasing concern toward sustainability and sustainable development issues, environmental innovation practices have been of burgeoning interest among both scholars and practitioners. Building on this, the main purpose of this study is to quantitatively aggregate the extant empirical research on eco‐innovation and firm performance and to assess the role of moderating factors in this theoretical relationship by pursuing a meta‐analytic approach. To serve this objective, 196 effects based upon 70 studies including more than 25,000 firms (N = 25,412) were meta‐analytically examined. Quantitative evidence drawn from the meta‐analysis indicates that organizational eco‐innovation exerts the strongest influence on firm performance. Moreover, the meta‐analytic findings suggest that significant variations in the correlation between eco‐innovation and firm performance exist across different performance types, and the magnitude of the eco‐innovation–firm performance association is stronger in developing compared with developed countries. This meta‐analytic review is expected to considerably contribute to the pertinent literature by means of improving the understanding of the relevance of eco‐innovation typology to firm performance.

How environmental innovation influences firm performance: A meta-analytic review

Under the background of environmental sustainability, it is of great significance to investigate how green innovation influences firm performance dimensions in emerging economies. Explicitly, the interaction effects of absorptive capacity (AC) and managerial environmental concern (MEC) on the correlation between green innovation and firm performance dimensions must be explored. Our data were obtained through a questionnaire survey from 253 companies operating in China. Using hierarchical linear modeling (HLM), we found that (1) green innovation has a robustly positive effect on firm performance dimensions (operational, financial and environmental), and (2) absorptive capacity and managerial environmental concern can positively affect the correlation between green innovation and firm performance dimensions. Our results illustrate the integrating effects of absorptive capacity, managerial environmental concern, green innovation and firm performance dimensions.

The Penetration of Green Innovation on Firm Performance: Effects of Absorptive Capacity and Managerial Environmental Concern

This paper set out to investigate the ways training and development impacts on firm innovative performance as well as the moderating role of knowledge transfer received on training and development and firm innovative performance, using a sample of 229 foreign subsidiaries of multinational enterprises (MNEs) operating in China. We adopt hierarchical linear modeling, and the results of the study reveal that both on-the-job training and development and off-the-job training and development have an influence on the firm innovative performance. Also, the empirical results of the study demonstrate that the moderating effect of tacit and explicit knowledge received on the relationship between both on-the-job training and development and off-the-job training and development and firm innovative performance are stronger. This paper shows that continues updating of skills, ability and knowledge of the workforce through on-the job training and development and off-the job training development programs might boost creativity and innovation of business organizations.

MNEs Subsidiary Training and Development and Firm Innovative Performance: The Moderating Effects of Tacit and Explicit Knowledge Received from Headquarters

Under the background of resource dependence, it is of great significance to study the emerging market multinationals’ (EMNEs) entry mode into international market. How do complementary assets and expansion opportunities in a host country market influence the EMNEs executive’s entry mode choice? We adopt policy capture method to designed questionnaire and administered to high-level EMNEs executives in China. The results show that the availability of complementary assets in the host country market have a positive influence on EMNEs executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog entry modes choice, and EMNEs executives’ preferences for leapfrog mode over evolutionary mode is positively related to the host country’s complementary assets. The expansion opportunities in the host country market have a positive influence on EMNEs executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog entry modes choice. This shows that expansion opportunities in the host country market have a similar degree of attraction for executives’ evolutionary and leapfrog modes. Unlike most current studies, which advocate that leapfrog is mainly used to obtain international assets, while evolutionary approach is more suitable for seeking international opportunities. This paper shows that the opportunity factors play the same important role as assets factors in promoting EMNEs executives’ springboard behavior. It also reveals the ambidexterity logic in EMNEs executives’ decision-making process.
