This article addresses the adaptive event-triggered neural control problem for nonaffine pure-feedback nonlinear multiagent systems with dynamic disturbance, unmodeled dynamics, and dead-zone input. Radial basis function neural networks are applied to approximate the unknown nonlinear function. A dynamic signal is constructed to deal with the design difficulties in the unmodeled dynamics. Moreover, to reduce the communication burden, we propose an event-triggered strategy with a varying threshold. Based on the Lyapunov function method and adaptive neural control approach, a novel event-triggered control protocol is constructed, which realizes that the outputs of all followers converge to a neighborhood of the leader’s output and ensures that all signals are bounded in the closed-loop system. An illustrative simulation example is applied to verify the usefulness of the proposed algorithms.

Neural-Network-Based Event-Triggered Adaptive Control of Nonaffine Nonlinear Multiagent Systems With Dynamic Uncertainties

It is assumed that a human operator controls the MASs via sending the command signal to a non-autonomous leader which generates the desired trajectory. Moreover, the leader's input is nonzero and not available to all followers. By using neural networks and fault estimators to approximate unknown nonlinear dynamics and identify the actuator faults, respectively, the neighborhood observer-based neural fault-tolerant controller with dynamic coupling gains is designed. It is proved that the state of each follower can synchronize with the leader's state under a directed graph and all signals in the closed-loop system are guaranteed to be cooperatively uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, simulation results are presented for verifying the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

In this paper, the formation control problem is investigated for a team of uncertain underactuated surface vessels (USVs) based on a directed graph. Considering the risk of collision and the limited communication range of USVs, the prescribed performance control (PPC) methodology is employed to ensure collision avoidance and connectivity maintenance. An event-triggered mechanism is designed to reasonably use the limited communication resources. Moreover, neural networks (NNs) and an auxiliary variable are constructed to deal with the problems of uncertain nonlinearities and underactuation, respectively. Then, an event-triggered formation control scheme is proposed to ensure that all signals of the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB). Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Distributed Event-Triggered Formation Control of USVs with Prescribed Performance

This article proposes a fault-tolerant adaptive multigradient recursive reinforcement learning (RL) event-triggered tracking control scheme for strict-feedback discrete-time multiagent systems. The multigradient recursive RL algorithm is used to avoid the local optimal problem that may exist in the gradient descent scheme. Different from the existing event-triggered control results, a new lemma about the relative threshold event-triggered control strategy is proposed to handle the compensation error, which can improve the utilization of communication resources and weaken the negative impact on tracking accuracy and closed-loop system stability. To overcome the difficulty caused by sensor fault, a distributed control method is introduced by adopting the adaptive compensation technique, which can effectively decrease the number of online estimation parameters. Furthermore, by using the multigradient recursive RL algorithm with less learning parameters, the online estimation time can be effectively reduced. The stability of closed-loop multiagent systems is proved by using the Lyapunov stability theorem, and it is verified that all signals are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, two simulation examples are given to show the availability of the presented control scheme. 

Adaptive Multigradient Recursive Reinforcement Learning Event-Triggered Tracking Control for Multiagent Systems

In this paper, the leader-following tracking problem of fractional-order multi-agent systems is addressed. The dynamics of each agent may be heterogeneous and has unknown nonlinearities. By assumptions that the interaction topology is undirected and connected and the unknown nonlinear uncertain dynamics can be parameterized by a neural network, an adaptive learning law is proposed to deal with unknown nonlinear dynamics, based on which a kind of cooperative tracking protocols are constructed. The feedback gain matrix is obtained to solve an algebraic Riccati equation. To construct the fully distributed cooperative tracking protocols, the adaptive law is also adopted to adjust the coupling weight. With the developed control laws, we can prove that all signals in the closed-loop systems are guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, a simple simulation example is provided to illustrate the established result.
