This paper provides an overview and makes a deep investigation on sampled-data-based event-triggered control and filtering for networked systems. Compared with some existing event-triggered and self-triggered schemes, a sampled-data-based event-triggered scheme can ensure a positive minimum inter-event time and make it possible to jointly design suitable feedback controllers and event-triggered threshold parameters. Thus, more attention has been paid to the sampled-data-based event-triggered scheme. A deep investigation is first made on the sampled-data-based event-triggered scheme. Then, recent results on sampled-data-based event-triggered state feedback control, dynamic output feedback control, $H_\infty$ filtering for networked systems are surveyed and analyzed. An overview on sampled-data-based event-triggered consensus for distributed multiagent systems is given. Finally, some challenging issues are addressed to direct the future research.

An Overview and Deep Investigation on Sampled-Data-Based Event-Triggered Control and Filtering for Networked Systems

This paper investigates the problem of event-triggered fault detection (FD) filter design for nonlinear networked systems in the framework of interval type-2 fuzzy systems. In the system model, the parameter uncertainty is captured effectively by the membership functions (MFs) with upper and lower bounds. For reducing the utilization of limited communication bandwidth, an event-triggered communication mechanism is applied. A novel FD filter subject to event-triggered communication mechanism, data quantization, and communication delay is designed to generate a residual signal and detect system faults, where the premise variables are different from those of the system model. Consequently, the augmented FD system is with imperfectly matched MFs, which hampers the stability analysis and FD. To relax the stability analysis and achieve a better FD performance, the information of MFs and slack matrices are utilized in the stability analysis. Finally, two examples are employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Event-Triggered Fault Detection Filter Design for Nonlinear Networked Systems

This paper examines the adaptive event-triggered fault detection problem of semi-Markovian jump systems (S-MJSs) with output quantization. First, we develop an adaptive event-triggered scheme for S-MJSs that is more effective than conventional event-triggered strategy for decreasing network transmission information. Meanwhile, we design a new adaptive law that can dynamically adjust the event-triggered threshold. Second, we consider output signal quantization and transmission delay in the proposed fault detection scheme. Moreover, we establish novel sufficient conditions for the stochastic stability in the proposed fault detection scheme with an $H_{\infty }$ performance with the help of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, we provide simulation results to demonstrate the usefulness of the developed theoretical results.

Adaptive Event-Triggered Fault Detection Scheme for Semi-Markovian Jump Systems With Output Quantization

This paper studies the problem of adaptive event-triggered dynamic output feedback fuzzy control for nonlinear networked control systems. Two crucial factors, packet dropouts and actuator failure, are taken into consideration simultaneously. Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy model is introduced to describe considered systems. The Bernoulli random distribution process is employed to depict the phenomenon of data missing. The actuator failure model is adopted to depict actuator failure. An innovative adaptive event-triggered strategy is built to save computational resource. In the light of Lyapunov stability theory, a fuzzy dynamic output feedback controller is designed to guarantee the stochastic stability and $\mathcal {H}_{\infty }$ performance for considered systems. Finally, simulation results are provided to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed control strategy.

Adaptive Event-Triggered Output Feedback Fuzzy Control for Nonlinear Networked Systems With Packet Dropouts and Actuator Failure

Stator/rotor winding faults are the common faults in squirrel-cage induction motor systems, which motivates the study of incipient fault detection and isolation (IFDI) to improve the safety and reliability of CRH (China Railway High-speed) trains. In this paper, a dynamic model for squirrel caged induction motor in d-q coordinate system is established firstly, further, the models and characteristics of incipient broken-rotor-bar fault and turn-to-turn short fault are analyzed. After that, a novel robust diagnosis design is proposed for the possible incipient stator/rotor winding faults. Experimental analyses show that the detection and isolation scheme designed in this paper provides high sensitivity and accurate isolation to incipient winding faults.

Incipient winding fault detection and diagnosis for squirrel-cage induction motors equipped on CRH trains.

This paper studies the problem of event-triggered fault detection filter (FDF) and controller coordinated design for a continuous-time networked control system (NCS) with biased sensor faults. By considering sensor-to-FDF network-induced delays and packet dropouts, which do not impose a constraint on the event-triggering mechanism, and proposing the simultaneous network bandwidth utilization ratio and fault occurrence probability-based event-triggering mechanism, a new closed-loop model for the considered NCS is established. Based on the established model, the event-triggered ${H} _{{\infty }}$ performance analysis, and FDF and controller coordinated design are presented. The combined mutually exclusive distribution and Wirtinger-based integral inequality approach is proposed for the first time to deal with integral inequalities for products of vectors. This approach is proved to be less conservative than the existing Wirtinger-based integral inequality approach. The designed FDF and controller can guarantee the sensitivity of the residual signal to faults and the robustness of the NCS to external disturbances. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed event-triggering mechanism, and the FDF and controller coordinated design.
