An Overview of Predatory Journal Publishing in Asia

TL;DR: Ameen et al. as mentioned in this paper explored the routine business of predatory journals in some Asian countries, focusing on drawing a complete picture of open access journal publishing by taking into account alternative practices, and found that the predatory journals have primarily tried to benefit from the open access model by misrepresenting editorial information, promising a broad coverage of scholarly subjects, and levying charges for publications while ignoring peer review.
