TL;DR: 40-Gb/s W-band 16-QAM radio-over-fiber signal is optically synthesized using dual-polarization QPSK modulator and its wireless transmission within FEC limit is demonstrated with optical self-heterodyne detection and digital signal processing.
Abstract: The generation of a 40-Gb/s 16-QAM radio-over-fiber (RoF) signal and its demodulation of the wireless signal transmitted over free space of 30 mm in W-band (75-110 GHz) is demonstrated. The 16-QAM signal is generated by a coherent polarization synthesis method using a dual-polarization QPSK modulator. A combination of the simple RoF generation and the versatile digital receiver technique is suitable for the proposed coherent optical/wireless seamless network.

TL;DR: Twenty-Gb/s W-band wireless transmission in free space with a distance of 30mm using optical signal generation using Optically synthesized QPSK signal and direct optical upconversion technique for dual purpose of wireline and wireless transmission link is demonstrated.
Abstract: We demonstrate 20-Gb/s W-band wireless transmission in free space with a distance of 30mm using optical signal generation. Optically synthesized QPSK signal and direct optical upconversion technique ease generation of W-band RoF signals for dual purpose of wireline and wireless transmission link. A W-band radio receiver with W-band frequency downconversion and digital signal processing will be applicable for any W-band radio detection.

TL;DR: In this paper, a 10-Gb/s/ch frequency division multiplexing (FDM) radio-over-fiber (RoF) signal generation and free-space transmission in W-band (75-110 GHz) was successfully demonstrated.
Abstract: 10-Gb/s/ch frequency-division-multiplexing (FDM) radio-over-fiber (RoF) signal generation and free-space transmission in W-band (75–110 GHz) are successfully demonstrated. The FDM quadrature-phaseshift-keying (QPSK) signals with 3 channels are optically generated and transmitted over 30-cm radio link. Digital signal processing with W-band mixer realizes successful demodulation of its FDM radio signal.
