Circuits for programming, monitoring, and driving pixels in a display are provided. Circuits generally include a driving transistor to drive current through a light emitting device according to programming information which is stored on a storage device, such as a capacitor. One or more switching transistors are generally included to select the circuits for programming, monitoring, and/or emission. Circuits advantageously incorporate emission transistors to selectively couple the gate and source terminals of a driving transistor to allow programming information to be applied to the driving transistor independently of a resistance of a switching transistor.

A pixel current driver comprises a plurality of thin film transistors (TFTs) each having dual gates and for driving OLED layers. A top gate of the dual gates is formed between a source and a drain of each of the thin film transistors, to thereby minimize parasitic capacitance. The top gate is grounded or electrically tied to a bottom gate. The plurality of thin film transistors may be two thin film transistors formed in voltage-programmed manner or five thin film transistors formed in a current-programmed ΔVT-compensated manner. Other versions of the current-programmed circuit with different numbers of thin film transistors are also presented that compensate for δVT. The OLED layer are continuous and vertically stacked on the plurality of thin film transistors to provide an aperture ratio close to 100%.

A system and method for driving an AMOLED display is provided. The AMOLED display includes a plurality of pixel circuits. A voltage-programming scheme, a current-programming scheme or a combination thereof is applied to drive the display. Voltage-programming scheme for current-driven amoled displays

Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) technology offers a viable technological alternative for improved imaging of optical signals and high energy radiation. This paper reviews X-ray imaging technology in terms of detector operating principles, including optoelectronic characteristics, and fabrication process issues related to pixel (Schottky diode detector plus thin film transistor) integration. Recent results which describe the extension of the current fabrication processes to low (/spl sim/120/spl deg/C) temperature are also presented. The low temperature processing enables fabrication of thin electronics on flexible (polymer) substrates.
