Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes over PtSn/Nylon

TL;DR: In this article, it is suggested that the effect of tin ions is related to their acid properties which enhance the reactivity of the CO bond, and that the reaction proceeds mainly through the hydrogenation of the c-O bond with formation of α,β-unsaturated alcohols.
Journal ArticleDOI

Liquid phase hydrogenations over platinum-tin catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, the Pt-Sn system has been studied as a function of the Pt/Sn ratio and an interaction between tin and platinum has been found to deactivate active metal sites and enhance the reactivity of the CO group.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nitrobenzene hydrogenation on Pt-Sn catalysts

TL;DR: In this article, it is suggested that at low concentration tin ions act as promoters by activating the oxygen-containing group, and at higher tin content, platinum is poisoned and availability of activated hydrogen becomes rate-determining.
Journal ArticleDOI

Selective hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes to give unsaturated alcohols over platinum–germanium catalysts

TL;DR: On Pt-Ge catalysts, cinnamaldehyde is hydrogenated to Cinnamyl alcohol with a selectivity of 90-95% at conversions higher than 90%.
