A biodegradable resin composition containing a biodegradable resin and a cellulose having a crystallinity of less than 50%; and a biodegradable resin molded article wherein the biodegradable resin composition as defined above is molded. The biodegradable resin composition can be suitably used for various industrial applications, such as daily sundries, household electric appliance parts, and automobile parts.

A modified powder which comprises a silk powder having an average particle diameter of 10 μm or less, an oil absorption of 130 ml/100 g or less, and a particle diameter by the evaluation of dispersion degree with the particle gauge according to JIS K5400 of 80 μm or less, or a polysaccharide powder having an average particle diameter of 10 μm or less, an ink viscosity of less than 15 Pa s or an oil absorption of 85 ml/100 g or less; and a method for producing the above modified powder, which comprises a first pulverization step of pulverizing a raw modified material by the use of a dry mechanical pulverization means such as a ball mill, to form a pulverized material, and a second pulverization step of pulverizing the resultant pulverized material into a fine powder having an average particle diameter of 10 μm or less with a jet mill, wherein the time for the pulverization treatment in the first pulverization step is 40 hr or more.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart shape and size fit for a modifying material to an org. substance to be pulverized without deteriorating characteristics peculiar to the stock by pulverizing the org. substance with a rolling ball mill, etc., and further pulverizing it with a jet mill. SOLUTION: A polysaccharide such as cellulose or chitin as an org. substance to be pulverized is pulverized to about 20μm average particle diameter with a rolling ball mill, a tube mill, a rod mill or a hammer mill. The pulverized substance is further pulverized to about <=10μm average particle diameter with a jet mill. The org. substance is pulverized to fine particles in two stages and the objective org. powder whose size is fit for utilization as a modifying material is easily obtd.
