Numerical studies on heat transfer and flow characteristics for laminar flow in a tube with multiple regularly spaced twisted tapes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented a simulation of multi-longitudinal vortices in a tube induced by triple and quadruple twisted tapes insertion, and the results verified the theory of the core flow heat transfer enhancement.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Revisit to High Thermoelectric Performance of Single-layer MoS2.

TL;DR: There should be a high possibility to enhance ZT in the SLMoS2-based materials as the thermal conductivity could be reduced largely by phonon engineering, and the predicted value of ZT is as high as 0.11 at 500 K.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical studies on heat transfer and friction factor characteristics of a tube fitted with helical screw-tape without core-rod inserts

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional turbulence analysis of heat transfer and fluid flow is performed by numerical simulation, and the simulation results show that the average overall heat transfer coefficients in circular plain tubes are enhanced with helical screw-tape of different widths by as much as 212-∼-351% at a constant tube-side temperature and the friction factor are enhanced by 33% to 1020%.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hybrid membrane distillation-reverse electrodialysis electricity generation system to harvest low-grade thermal energy

TL;DR: In this paper, an alternative hybrid membrane-based electricity generation system that operates as a heat engine is presented to convert low-grade heat into electricity, which consists of membrane distillation (MD), which absorbs thermal energy from the heat source and generates high concentrated salty stream, and reverse electrodialysis (RED), that converts the Gibbs free energy of mixing from the produced salty streams into electricity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of biporous wicks for flat-plate loop heat pipe

TL;DR: In this paper, two different methods, cold pressing sintering and loose powder Sintering, are adopted to fabricate the biporous nickel wicks for loop heat pipes (LHPs) in the present study, the porosity of the wicks is measured by Archimedes method and radius and distribution of pores is observed by Scanning Electronic Microscope.
