A system for efficiently filtering interfering signals in a front end of a GPS receiver is disclosed. Such interfering signals can emanate from friendly, as well as unfriendly, sources. One embodiment includes a GPS receiver with a space-time adaptive processing (STAP) filter. At least a portion of the interfering signals are removed by applying weights to the inputs. One embodiment adaptively calculates and applies the weights by Fourier Transform convolution and Fourier Transform correlation. The Fourier Transform can be computed via a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). This approach advantageously reduces computational complexity to practical levels. Another embodiment utilizes redundancy in the covariance matrix to further reduce computational complexity. In another embodiment, an improved FFT and an improved Inverse FFT further reduce computational complexity and improve speed. Advantageously, embodiments can efficiently null a relatively large number of jammers at a relatively low cost and with relatively low operating power.

Efficient space-time adaptive processing (STAP) filter for global positioning system (GPS) receivers

A modulator and modulation method are provided, which output an OQAM multi-carrier signal. The method implements a step of transforming, from the frequency domain to the time domain, a set of M symbols of real data so as to output M transformed symbols. The complete transformation includes the following sub-steps: applying a partial Fourier transform to the set of M symbols of real data, outputting a first subset of C transformed symbols, where C is strictly less than M; and obtaining, from the first subset, a second subset of (M-C) transformed symbols that is complementary to the first subset.

Method for modulating an OQAM type multi-carrier signal, and corresponding computer program and modulator

A method and device for reducing the computational complexity of a processing algorithm, of a discrete signal, in particular of the spectral estimation and analysis of bio-signals, with minimum or no quality loss, which comprises steps of (a) choosing a domain, such that transforming the signal to the chosen domain results to an approximately sparse representation, wherein at least part of the output data vector has zero or low magnitude elements; (b) converting the original signal in the domain chosen in step (a) through a mathematical transform consisting of arithmetic operations resulting in a vector of output data; (c) reformulating the processing algorithm of the original signal in the original domain into a modified algorithm consisting of equivalent arithmetic operations in the domain chosen in step (a) to yield the expected result with the expected quality quantified in terms of a suitable application metric; (d) combining the mathematical transform of step (b) and the equivalent mathematical operations introduced in step (c) for obtaining the expected result within the original domain with the expected quality; (e) selecting a threshold value based on the difference in the mean magnitude value of the elements of the output data vector of the transform said in step (b) and the preferred complexity reduction and degree of output quality loss that can be tolerated in the expected result within the target application; (f) pruning a number of elements the magnitude of which is less than the threshold value selected in step (e); and/or eliminating arithmetic operations associated with the pruned elements of step (f) either in the mathematical transform of step (b) and/or in the equivalent algorithm of step (c).

Method and apparatus for low complexity spectral analysis of bio-signals

A last fourier transform architecture has parallel data processing paths. Input data is applied to the parallel data processing paths in a repeating sequence, and processed in those paths. Data sequencers are used to combine the outputs from the data processing paths into the required sequence.

A Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) arrangement for use in those situations in which not all of the outputs are desired is controlled in such a fashion that at least those multiplications (and possibly those additions) are not performed which do not contribute toward the desired outputs. The technique is usable in those situations in which the desired output signals are noncontiguous, or are in noncontiguous bins. The technique includes signal preprocessing in which the indices are adjusted so that the index for a particular stage points to those butterflies of the previous stage which contribute toward its output. The FFT is performed on the indexed data. In one embodiment, a pipelined FFT processor is controlled in a corresponding manner.
