PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polycarbonate-based resin composition that has excellent thermal conductivity, molding processability, slight warpage of molding and excellent surface smoothness, its molding, especially a molding useful for OA (Office Automation), electric/electronic parts, a case body and an internal part of precision equipment part. SOLUTION: The heat-conductive polycarbonate-based resin composition comprises, based on (A) 100 parts wt. of a polycarbonate-based resin, (B) ≥1 part wt. and ≤40 parts wt. of an aromatic polycarbonate oligomer, (C) ≥5 parts wt. and ≤40 parts wt. of a graphitized carbon fiber having ≥100W/m×K coefficient of thermal conductivity in the length direction and 5-20μm average fiber diameter and (D) ≥5 parts wt. and ≤100 parts wt. of heat-conductive powder (except boron nitride) having ≥10W/m×K coefficient of thermal conductivity and 1-500μm average particle diameter. Highly heat-conductive insulating polycarbonate-based resin composition and molding

A gas diffusion layer having a favorable micro-short resistance and a favorable flooding resistance characteristic realized by optimizing the surface shape of the gas diffusion layer. The gas diffusion layer having an electron conductivity and a gas diffusivity is used for a gas diffusion electrode having at least a catalyst layer containing an electrode catalyst and the gas diffusion layer. A second surface opposite to the first surface provided on the catalyst layer side is rougher than the first surface. The maximum height Ry1 of the surface roughness of the first surface measured by the measuring method prescribed in JIS B 0601 is 10 to 50, and the maximum height Ry2 of that of the second surface measured by the measuring method prescribed in JIS B 0601 is 100 to 500.

Gas diffusion layer and fuel cell using same

The present invention is directed to addressing performance issues attributable to membrane electrode assemblies, and the components thereof, in electrochemical conversion cells. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a device comprising at least one electrochemical conversion cell is provided. The cell is configured to convert first and second reactants to electrical energy and comprises a membrane electrode assembly and at least one membrane reinforcement layer. The combination of elastic modulus and thickness of the reinforcement layer and the bond between the reinforcement layer and the membrane electrode assembly are sufficient to enhance the structural integrity of the membrane electrode assembly beyond the operational degradation threshold of the assembly.

Reinforced membrane electrode assembly

According to the present invention, a porous electrode substrate with greater sheet strength, lower production cost, and excellent gas permeability and conductivity as well as its manufacturing method are provided. Also provided are a precursor sheet for forming such a substrate, and a membrane electrode assembly and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell containing such a substrate. The method for manufacturing such a porous electrode substrate includes the following steps [1]˜[3]: [1] a step for manufacturing a sheet material in which short carbon fibers (A) are dispersed; [2] a step for manufacturing a precursor sheet by adding a water-soluble phenolic resin and/or water-dispersible phenolic resin to the sheet material; and [3] a step for carbonizing the precursor sheet at a temperature of 1000° C. or higher. The present invention also relates to a porous electrode substrate obtained by such a manufacturing method as well as a precursor sheet to be used for manufacturing the substrate, a membrane electrode assembly and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell.

A porous carbon sheet contains carbon fiber and a binder, wherein the carbon sheet is characterized in that in a section from a plane having a 50% filling ratio closest to one surface to a plane having a 50% filling ratio closest to the other surface, when letting layer X be a layer with the largest filling ratio close to the one surface, layer Y be a layer with a filling ratio smaller than layer X close to the other surface, and layer Z be the layer positioned between layer X and layer Y for layers obtained by dividing the carbon sheet equally into three in a direction perpendicular to the surfaces, the filling ratio for the layers becomes smaller in order of layer X, layer Y, and layer Z.

SOLUTION: A gas diffuser 4 is provided where a porous carbon base material 1 which is a collection of a plurality of carbon fibers 1a contains granular fluorocarbon resin 2 by 1-40 wt.% while the granular fluorocarbon resin binds carbon fibers together as a binder. The gas diffuser 4 is acquired by a method for manufacturing a gas diffuser which includes at least following processes (1), (2) and (3): a process (1) where the porous carbon base material is dipped in the dispersion liquid having granular fluorocarbon resin by 1-60 wt.%, a process (2) where a superfluous dispersion liquid is removed from the base material acquired through the process (1), and is dried to adjust a dried granular fluorocarbon resin into a range of 1-40 wt.% relative to the entire base material, and a process (3) where the base material provided through the process (2) is hot-pressed within the surface pressure range 1 Pa-10 MPa by batch press, otherwise a process where it is hot-pressed, by roll press, with a line pressure of 1-5000 N/cm, by a clearance of 30-90% of the thickness of base material before pressing.
