Battery draining attacks against edge computing nodes in IoT networks

The internet of things (IoT), which provides a way to connect every “thing” via the internet to further develop a convenient environment, has been around for more than a decade. The trend of the development of IoT nowadays is to focus not only on its devices and systems but also on data analysis. The main reason is that data from sensors or systems typically contain valuable information that is very useful for improving the system performance or providing a better service to the user if we come up with a good “data analysis” solution. This paper begins with a brief review of data mining technologies for IoT. Then, a reference data analytics architecture is given to show how data analysis technologies can be applied to an IoT system. Finally, applications, open issues, and possible research directions are addressed.

Data analytics for internet of things: A review

This paper proposes a real-time location annotation and border crossing warning for the electronic fence monitoring algorithm with the Baidu Maps API. Compared with the traditional ray algorithm, the proposed algorithm firstly preprocesses the electronic fence and maps the area of the polygons on the electronic map through the Baidu Maps API to set up a Cartesian rectangular coordinate system and calculate the minimum circumscribed rectangle. Then, the proposed algorithm shows early warning information for the points outside the fence through the analysis of the target monitoring object and the topological relationship of the polygon area. The simulation result in the MATLAB shows the algorithm is fast and accurate. Besides that, the proposal also works well in dynamic target monitoring and regional early warning.

A real-time electronic fence monitoring algorithm based on Baidu maps

Based on the partially observable Markov decision process, this paper investigates spectrum access in cognitive networks and proposes an optimal spectrum access algorithm to maximize the throughput. The suboptimal solution to the optimal spectrum access strategy is given by use of the greedy algorithm. In order to achieve the optimal channel access, the channel access state of authorized users is estimated according to the historical information of spectrum sensing. Simulation results show that the optimal spectrum access algorithm would make the secondary users achieve a higher throughput and the networks have the higher spectrum utilization. Compared with the random access and the optimal cognitive MAC protocol, the optimal spectrum access algorithm would improve the throughput by 25–40% and 8–12%, respectively.

Optimal spectrum access algorithm based on POMDP in cognitive networks

There are a lot of simple structure and energy limited terminal nodes and equipments in the Internet of things, and to ensure the security of the equipment and data is very important for the Internet of things. LEACH routing protocol is one of the earliest hierarchical routing protocols which is connected with the terminal nodes. It has good performance in energy consumption and ad hoc networks. In order to improve the security of LEACH protocol, a multi hop routing protocol based LEACH is proposed, which using the Dijkstra algorithm to find the shortest route. By using the method of preset shared key, the authentication of the nodes is carried out by the base station. At the same time according to the generated network structure, the communication key between the nodes is generated automatically. The detailed design and safety performance of the improved routing protocol are given.

Survey on the Internet of Things

Sensing/monitoring of spectrum-availability has been identified as a key requirement for dynamic spectrum allocation in cognitive radio networks(CRNs).Sensing duration and sensing interval are two significant parameters associated with spectrum sensing,which directly affect the detection probability of available spectrum and the collision probability of the primary and secondary users.In this paper,a two-dimensional single-objective optimization problem of sensing period and sensing interval is proposed under the constraint that the primary users are sufficiently protected.Based on the energy detection sensing algorithm,the mathematical model of joint optimization is given.We present the approach of solving the sensing period and sensing interval optimization problem which makes the maximum utilization of spectrum for the secondary system.Simulation results show that the spectrum utilization increases at first and decreases then as the sensing interval and the sensing period increase.So there exists a set of optimal values of sensing interval and sensing period to maximize the spectrum utilization of the cognitive networks.

Joint Optimization of Sensing Period and Sensing Interval in Cognitive Radio Networks

Cooperative spectrum sensing enables a Cognitive Radio(CR) networks to reliably detect primary users and avoid causing interference to primary user's communications.The data fusion technique is a key component of cooperative spectrum sensing.Four data fusion methods have been investigated in this paper,including "AND" rule,"OR" rule,the largest posterior probability?rule and Bayesian rule.We use them to sense spectrum cooperatively in CR networks and their spectrum detection performances were compared.Simulation results show that the largest posterior probability?rule and Bayesian rule can approach ascendant sensing performances in the CR networks.

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Algorithm Based on Data Fusion

Aimed at the problem of spectrum sharing among a primary user and multiple secondary users based on Game Theory,an improved utility function of the second user is proposed.Not only the different spectrum requirements as a result of the different service among second users,but also the influence of the shared spectrum on the spectrum demand have been taken into consideration in the spectrum demand parameter of the function.The more spectrum the second user shared,the demand for spectrum will be relatively less severe.The demand degree in the utility function is a function of spectrum sharing.It is a variable which can more accurately describes the cognitive radio system features in meeting the needs of users of the spectrum,and reflect better the spectrum allocation of the equity.This paper also analyzed the impact of the spectrum demand function on the spectrum sharing algorithm based on game theory.The theoretical analysis and simulation demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm and the existence of Nash equilibrium.
