TL;DR: The careers and administrative behaviour of chief liberal arts academic officers are examined based on a national survey conducted during 1984 as discussed by the authors, based on the conviction that the quality of teaching in higher education is significantly influenced by the administrative behavior of department chairs, deans, and chief academic officers.
Abstract: The careers and administrative behaviour of chief liberal arts academic officers are examined based on a national survey conducted during 1984. The paper is based on the conviction that the quality of teaching in higher education is significantly influenced by the administrative behaviour of department chairs, deans, and chief academic officers. Specifically, the study describes grants administration, evaluation mechanisms, satisfactions and frustrations, and career success of chief liberal arts academic officers.

TL;DR: Two groups of 5- to 6-yr.-old children estimated the time requited to view 15 color slides containing an assortment of familiar objects, and children in the category group estimated significantly longer durations than subjects in the random condition.
Abstract: Two groups of 5- to 6-yr.-old children estimated the time required to view 15 color slides containing an assortment of familiar objects. In one group, the pictures appeared in categorical order. A second group viewed the same 15 slides in a random order. The results showed that, although picture-recall was similar for the two groups, children in the category group estimated significantly longer durations than subjects in the random condition. The findings were discussed in the context of Ornstein's 1969 storage size hypothesis.
