TL;DR: Ion exchange potential of Zr (IV) molybdate and silica gel ‘G’ has been explored in paper chromatography and thin layer chromatographic studies for the separation of anions from one another as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Ion exchange potential of Zr (IV) molybdate and silica gel ‘G’ has been explored in paper chromatography and thin layer chromatographic studies for the separation of anions from one another. Several Important and difficult separations of anions have been achieved as a result of these studies. IO− 3 - BrO3 −, Br− - NO2 −, IO4 − - I−, NO2 − - NO3 −, NO3 − - BO3 −, NO3 − - BrO3 −, PO4 — - F− and PO4 — - IO3 − are separations of practical Interest.

TL;DR: The results derived from physico-chemical methods have been correlated with softness parameters as mentioned in this paper, which indicate that the Lewis acids and the adducts have bridged structures, and the coordination geometry around M is tetrahedral in the case of Lewis acids of cobalt, manganese and zinc and octahedral by axial coordination in case of copper and nickel.
Abstract: Trimetallic compounds of the general formula Fe(C5H4HgSCN)2M(NCS)2[M [dbnd] Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)] have been prepared by reacting ferrocenylenebismercury(II) thiocyanate with M(NCS)2. The compounds have been referred to as Lewis acids, because of the unsaturation at M. On reaction with pyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline the Lewis acids form adducts of the general formula Fe (C5H4HgSCN)2M(NCS)2Lx. The Lewis acids and the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment, infrared and electronic spectral studies which indicate that the Lewis acids and the adducts have bridged structures. The coordination geometry around M is tetrahedral in the case of Lewis acids of cobalt, manganese and zinc and octahedral by axial coordination in case of copper and nickel. The M in all the adducts acquires octahedral geometry. The results derived from physico-chemical methods have been correlated with softness parameters.

TL;DR: In this article, a quantitative thin layer chromatographic (TLC) separation of metal ions using cerium (IV) antimonate as the solid phase is described. But the method is not suitable for the analysis of high-dimensional data.
Abstract: A quantitative thin layer chromatographic (TLC) separation of metal ions using cerium (IV) antimonate as the solid phase are described. Using an acetonitrile- HNO/sub 3/ solvent Pd/sup 2 +/ can be separated quantitatively (2-10 ..mu..g) from several other ions. A quantitative spectrophotometric assay using p-nitroso-dimethylaniline is proposed. 7 references, 3 tables.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple s-d band model is used for the interpretation of ϵ2(ω) for copper and analytical expressions are obtained in terms of band parameters of the s-D model.
Abstract: A simple s-d band model is used for the interpretation of ϵ2(ω) for copper. Fitting simple polynomials for transition matrix elments, analytical expressions are obtained for ϵ2(ω) in terms of band parameters of the s-d model. This expression is used to study the effect of matrix elements and variation of relaxation energy on ϵ2(ω) of copper. It is shown that such a simple model is sufficient to study such a variation and, therefore, to study the qualitative variation of ϵ2(ω). The model is also used to explain the peaks in dϵ2(ω)/dω curve successfully. The effect of hybridization amongst s and d bands is also taken into account for the calculation of transition matrix elements and the resulting effects in ϵ2(ω) are calculated.
