TL;DR: The recovery of manganese nodules lying on the ocean bed beyond national jurisdiction is expected to offer an enormous economic potential, both as a source of strategic minerals and as a market for the ocean industry, unless the regime to govern seabed mining included in the Law of the Sea Convention undergoes substantial revisions.
