TL;DR: A review of the literature indicates that professors are beginning to integrate this topic into its curriculum as mentioned in this paper. But what are the techniques that work? And is the topic of ethics truly being integrated into the entire business curricula?
Abstract: “Schools of business are being blamed for much of the unethical behavior in business today” (Harcourt, 1990: p. 17); “Ethics can and should be integrated into coursework throughout students' college careers” (Spencer and Lehman, 1990: p. 7); “... business schools have been charged with inadequate attention to ethics” (Bishop, 1992: p. 291); “The American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) encourages schools of business to incorporate business ethics throughout the curricula” (Davidet al., 1990: p. 26). These quotations indicate the concern for providing ethics education in today's business curriculums. In 1976, the AACSB urged business educators to include ethics in their course curricula, however, over 15 years later there is still concern as to whether the coverage of this topic in the business curriculum is adequate. A review of the literature indicates that professors are beginning to integrate this topic into its curriculum. But what are the techniques that work? And is the topic of ethics truly being integrated into the entire business curricula? This research assesses the integration of ethics into the business curricula today. Graduating seniors in the college of business of several universities were questioned to determine: (1) the courses in which the issue of ethics was addressed; (2) how much time was devoted to the issue by the professors; and (3) the methods employed to address the issue, and students' perceptions of their effectiveness.

TL;DR: A significant market to which marketers must devote greater attention, the gay market is well-educated, has high discretionary income, is informed socially and politically, is dedicated to career and home ownership, and places greater importance on friendship networks than do most Americans.
Abstract: This article describes a significant market to which marketers must devote greater attention. The gay market is well-educated, has high discretionary income, is informed socially and politically, is dedicated to career and home ownership, and places greater importance on friendship networks than do most Americans. Although a potentially lucrative market segment, gays represent a difficult segment to reach since alienation by other segments could be an explosive factor for many businesses.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors extended and expanded the body of evidence related to foreign exchange market efficiency by employing the single-equation cointegration test proposed by Phillips and Ouliaris [19], and the Johansen [12] 1991 Full Information Maximum Likelihood procedure for a system of equations.
Abstract: This study extends and expands the body of evidence related to foreign exchange market efficiency by employing the single-equation cointegration test proposed by Phillips and Ouliaris [19], and the Johansen [12] 1991 Full Information Maximum Likelihood procedure for a system of equations. Through the use of these updated techniques and a global data set, the authors are able to more carefully test for the presence of cointegrating relationships and examine the consistency of the results in three trading locations. The results are quite consistent across locations and are highly supportive of efficiency in the global foreign exchange market.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated whether sediment ingestion or water ventilation was the primary route of uptake for benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in the gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum), a detritivorous fish.
Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine whether sediment ingestion or water ventilation was the primary route of uptake for benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in the gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum), a detritivorous fish. Two experiments were conducted in which fish were exposed to sediments spiked with 1 {micro}g/g BaP. In the first experiment, fish were prevented from feeding by esophagus ligation. In the second experiment, 20 nonligated fish and 30 ligated fish were added to the aquarium. The nonligated fish roiled the water as they fed. Fish were collected 4, 8, 15, and 22 d after the experiments began. Gizzard shad metabolize BaP; therefore, the concentrations of BaP equivalents (parent BaP plus metabolite) were determined. Concentrations of BaP equivalents were significantly greater in the ligated fish in experiment 2 relative to those in experiment 1. In contrast, the concentration of BaP equivalents in the ligated fish in experiment 2 was not significantly different than that in the nonligated fish. The results suggest that ventilation of turbid water may be a significant source of BaP for gizzard shad. Sediment ingestion, however, does not appear to significantly influence the total body concentration of BaP equivalents in gizzard shad.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the ethical perceptions of advertising professionals regarding two child-oriented television advertising issues: deceptive messages and host selling, and found that variations in advertisers' ethical judgments and ethical intentions are affected by the type of rule(s) used during the evaluative process, and by the degree to which the rules are embraced.
Abstract: This study explores the ethical perceptions of advertising professionals regarding two child-oriented television advertising issues: deceptive messages and host selling. Differences in ethical evaluative and decision processes are investigated for both issues, using two evaluative rules. The results indicate that variations in advertisers’ ethical judgments and ethical intentions are affected by the type of rule(s) used during the evaluative process, and by the degree to which the rules are embraced. The article concludes with recommendations for advertising management and implications for future research.

TL;DR: In this paper, the question of whether or not special elections tend to produce lower turnout and a greater percentage of yes votes than do general elections was investigated. But the results showed that opposition to local school taxes increases with turnout.
Abstract: Using Louisiana school board property tax elections from the past decade, the authors study the question of whether or not special elections tend to produce lower turnout and a greater percentage of yes votes than do general elections. With the problem focusing on the choice of voting yes, voting no, or abstaining from voting, modified minimum chi-square methods are used in the analysis. The authors find that opposition to local school taxes increases with turnout. They also find that turnout is affected by the size of the tax, by the presence or absence of other taxes on the ballot, and by the presence or absence of state or federal matters on the same ballot. Both the inclusion of state or federal issues (or candidates) on the ballot and a higher tax rate lead to increased relative opposition at the polls.

TL;DR: The consistent sentencing of white-collar criminals does not exist in today's judicial system as discussed by the authors and guidelines for sentencing individuals and corporations have already been developed by the U.S. Sentencing Commission but have not yet been implemented in the courts.
Abstract: The consistent sentencing of white collar criminals does not exist in today's judicial system. Guidelines for sentencing individuals and corporations have already been developed by the U.S. Sentencing Commission but have not yet been implemented in the courts. Pros and cons of the guidelines are given, as is the extent and form of sentencing deemed appropriate for the individual or corporation. The activities of the sentencing commission are depicted by a timeline.

TL;DR: In this article, a study was conducted to determine whether sediment ingestion or water ventilation was the primary route for uptake of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) in gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum).
Abstract: The objective of this study was to determine whether sediment ingestion or water ventilation was the primary route for uptake of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) in the detritivorous fish, gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum). Twenty nonligated and 30 esophagus-ligated fish were exposed to sediments spiked with 1 μg/g HCB for 29 d. The nonligated fish roiled the water as they fed, forcing the ligated fish to ventilate turbid water. Fish were collected 7, 14, 22, and 29 d after initiation of the experiment. Detectable levels of HCB were found in all ligated and nonligated fish, although the concentration of HCB in the ligated fish only ranged from 14 to 33% of that found in the nonligated fish. Thus, ingestion of contaminated sediments is a significant source of HCB for gizzard shad.

TL;DR: Little difference was found in the opinions of women regarding the need for a women's health center or the core services desired, but the specific service mix decision must be carefully considered when designing a WHC.
Abstract: More than 75% of the female respondents in this study would choose a women's health center (WHC) over a standard health facility. Women who worked outside the home perceived a greater WHC need. And almost all respondents were interested in communications from the center via a quarterly newsletter. Significant test results related to age, income, education, and work status as segmentation variables, offering WHC's an opportunity to target their patients with specialized services such as cosmetic surgery, infertility treatment, breast imaging, etc. If enough resources are allocated, a WHC can design itself to attract highly lucrative patients. Little difference was found in the opinions of women regarding the need for a WHC or the core services desired, but the specific service mix decision must be carefully considered when designing a WHC.
