TL;DR: A water extract of Holocalix balansae, Mich., in isotonic solution (3 ml), corresponding to 10 g of plant leaf powder, free from cyanide, was administered subcutaneously to guinea pigs during 30 days as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A water extract of Holocalix balansae, Mich., in isotonic solution (3 ml), corresponding to 10 g of plant leaf powder, free from cyanide, was administered subcutaneously to guinea pigs during 30 days. Immediatly after the treatment period, blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture, and treated the method of Zak et al for cholesterol. The results obtained showed marked variations in the blood levels of cholesterol. The authors then conclude that this cyanide free plant extract, can be considered as one of the factors responsible for the photosensibilisation that develops in cattle after Holocalix balansae, Mich., ingestion.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors stress the toxicological importance of oxalic acid and discuss the metabolic pathways and the possible accidental and intentional intoxications in veterinary and human medicine, pointing out the inexistence, in national bibliography, of works that relate normoxalemy and animal species.
Abstract: The authors stress the toxicological importance of oxalic acid. They discuss the metabolic pathways and the possible accidental and intentional intoxications in veterinary and human medicine. They point out the inexistence, in national bibliography, of works that relate normoxalemy and animal species. Determinations of oxalic acid have been carried out, by the method of Merz and Maugeri, in the blood of 156 domestic animals belonging to six different species. The results obtained have been analysed statistically. The authors have concluded in favour of the existence of oxalemic values that significantly differ at a 1% level when comparing the results obtained after submitting the animals of groups A, B and C to the test of Scheffe.

TL;DR: Analises foram levadas a efeito na seccao intermediaria da aorta toracica de Gallus gallus, durante o seu desenvolvimento em animais de 1 dia a 3 anos, divididos em 12 grupos segundo a idade.
Abstract: Analysis were carried out on the intermediate section of Gallus gallus thoracic aorta during development in chickens ranging from 1 day to 3 years, divided in 12 age groups. Classic techniques of wax inclusion and staining were employed for the connective and muscle tissues. The reticular fibers were also studied after they had been sectioned in the freeze microtome through silver impregnation. The authors observed that the vessel undergoes structural variations within the considered age intervals in the architectonical disposition and morphological characteristics of its constituent elements.
