TL;DR: In this article, the influence of thermal environment and reduction of consumption on performance and carcass composition of castrated male pigs was investigated. But, the negative effects of high temperature on pigs include reduction in feed intake and changes in physiology.
Abstract: Thirty-six castrated male pigs were used to determine the influence of thermal environment and reduction of consumption on performance and carcass composition. Animals were housed in two climate chambers. In one, animals were in thermal comfort (TN) (22 °C), and in the other, pigs were under heat stress (HS) (34 °C). Animals were distributed in a randomized block design, making three treatments (TN, HS and animals in thermal comfort with food consumption paired with that observed in HS (PFTN)), with six replicates and two animals per experimental unit. Data were obtained on performance and carcass composition. The weight gains of HS and PFTN animals were reduced by 40.5% and 34.7%, respectively, reflecting a reduction of 13.2% in the final weight of PFTN animals. Triiodothyronine concentration was not affected by heat, but there was an increase in lymphocyte numbers in PFTN animals. The HS and PFTN animals showed lower hot carcass weight. However, there were no effects on hot carcass yield and relative weights of heart, lung and spleen. Heat stress compromised performance. The negative effects of high temperature on pigs include reduction in feed intake and changes in physiology. Keywords : Environment, heat stress, pair feed, pig growth, pig production

TL;DR: The authors investigate a tecnica de analise qualitativa de Protocolo Verbal concorrente, which consists in executar uma tarefa simultaneamente ao relato verbal; a segunda and a verbalizacao retrospectiva that acontece apos a tarefas ser executada.

Abstract: Ademais do glossario filosofico, Kant emprega muitos outros repertorios linguisticos; dentre eles, por exemplo, o musical.

TL;DR: The spatial and temporal parameters of the free walking and the obstacle avoidance revealed a cumulative effect of the motor responses to the Levodopa, which was observed by improvements in all variables and their variability.
Abstract: Cumulative effect of Levodopa in obstacle crossing: Case study of a Parkinson disease patient Abstract: The locomotor behavior of individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) is strongly affected by the Levodopa kinetics. Patients on advanced stage of the PD can show absorption problems of this substance. However, this issue is little discussed on the literature. Then, our aim was to analyze indirectly the Levodopa kinetics on the locomotor behavior during one day by means of the gait kinematic analyses during obstacle avoidance of one PD patient in advanced stage. WM, man, 72 years of age, 18 years with PD, stage IV of the disease, participated in this study. WM presented the following history: PD initiated by tremors of the right hand followed by tremors on the left hand, rigidity in the right lower limb first and on the left lower limb latter and then the cervical region; palidotomy 10 years ago decreasing the tremors. WM came into the lab for testing twice in the same day. During the afternoon, the patient presented larger improvements in his motor functions. The spatial and temporal parameters of the free walking and the obstacle avoidance revealed a cumulative effect of the motor responses to the Levodopa. This effect was observed by improvements in all variables and their variability. WM used adaptive locomotor strategies during obstacle avoidance. The Levodopa was efficient to normalize the gait pattern during the day.
