TL;DR: In a mycological study of patients with onychopathy during a period of 18 months, mycotic infection of the nail plate in 268 cases out of 927 examined persons were noticed.
Abstract: The main purpose of this original investigation is to report the results of the study on the frequency and type of the fungi that cause onychomycosis in Tehran. In a mycological study of patients with onychopathy during a period of 18 months, mycotic infection of the nail plate in 268cases outof 927 examined persons were noticed. The causative agents were candida (66.04%), der matophytes (32.1 %), and mold (1.86%). Candida onychomycosis was more common in women than men. The most frequently occurring species was C. albicans (66.6%). T. Llnguillm was predominant in the males and T. rubrwl1 was the most frequently isolated fungus being present in 50% isolates. Nondermatophytic onychomycosis was seen in toe nails in all cases. The etiologic agents were Aspergillus 4 and penicillillm species 1. MJ/RI, Vo1.3, No.3 & 4, 143·149, 1989

TL;DR: The data suggest that those students who come from north-east are more non-rollers, which may be due to mixture with Scandinavians.
Abstract: The distribution of tongue-rolling phenotypes in a sample (n = 477) of undergraduate students of the University College of Swansea (U.K.) was studied. The birthplaces of these students were also recorded. England was divided into six areas, and Wales was left as an area on its own. The data suggest that those students who come from north-east are more non-rollers, which may be due to mixture with Scandinavians.

TL;DR: The results of a particular study investigating the usefulness of prophylactic use of antibiotics at cesarean section from one country is not necessarily relevant for another country having a different culture and customs.
Abstract: 210 Iranian women participated in a study in two main categories (comprising six subgroups) for comparison of prophylactic antibiotic pre scription by the intravenous route with the irrigation method together with control subgroups. Interesting results from our study were: 1There was no significant statistical difference between subgroups with regard to infectious morbidity. 2The rate of early infectious morbidity in our patients was lower than in American studies. 3Late infections were more common than early infections in our study. 4The rate of late endometritis in the irrigation subgroup under category of labor lasting less than six hours was significantly lower than the irrigation subgroup in the category of labor lasting more than six hours. We think that the results of a particular study investigating the usefulness of prophylactic use of antibiotics at cesarean section from one country is not necessarily relevant for another country having a different culture and customs. TL;DR: The results showed a significant improvement after vitamin D therapy; furthermore, the level of calcium and phosphorus reached normal levels after treatment of the patients as well.
Abstract: Neutrophil mobility in 60 patients with vitamin D-deficient rickets is studied, and the patients are followed after therapy by 600,000 units vitamin D. 28 of 60 patients (46%), had low chemotaxis for neutrophils before vitamin D injection (migration), and 36 of 60 (60%) had low random mobility. The results showed a significant improvement after vitamin D therapy; furthermore, the level of calcium and phosphorus reached normal levels after treatment of the patients as well. We have previously studied neutrophil mobility in 10 patients with rickets2 This report serves to complement our previous preliminary report. MJ/RI. Vol.3. No.3 & 4. 169-173. 1989
