TL;DR: A general algorithm for designing finite impulse response (FIR) linear-phase and finite-wordlength 2-D digital filters is presented and an approach has been developed which has the important property that once the root node is generated the rest of the subproblems can be solved very efficiently.
Abstract: A general algorithm for designing finite impulse response (FIR) linear-phase and finite-wordlength 2-D digital filters is presented. The branch and bound technique in conjunction with the I. Barrodale and C. Philips (BP) linear minimax algorithm (1974) is used to solve the discrete variable problem. An approach has been developed which has the important property that once the root node is generated the rest of the subproblems can be solved very efficiently. In some cases it is not even necessary to solve the subproblem to realize that one can stop further branching. >

TL;DR: Two methods for recovering an image that has been degraded while being processed are presented and one reduces the problem to the computation of a few discrete Fourier transforms and the other enables the handling of edges and flat regions in the image in a pleasing manner for the human visual system.
Abstract: Two methods for recovering an image that has been degraded while being processed are presented. The first algorithm reduces the problem to the computation of a few discrete Fourier transforms. The second algorithm with weight matrices included enables the handling of edges and flat regions in the image in a pleasing manner for the human visual system. These algorithms have been applied to nuclear medicine images. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a lower-upper triangular (LU) decomposition of the coefficient matrix is proposed for the realization of 2D digital filters based on QR decomposition, which has good numerical characteristics in terms of approximate realization scheme and coefficients' values in the structure.
Abstract: Investigates the realization of 2-D digital filters based on the lower-upper triangular (LU) decomposition of the coefficient matrix. Based on QR decomposition, a novel numerical method that has some important characteristics is proposed to obtain the LU structure. Furthermore, the QR structure can be used for the realization and possesses good numerical characteristics in terms of the approximate realization scheme and the coefficients' values in the structure. >
