Abstract: Purpose This study contributes to the understanding of how cultural organizations are using digital technologies to redesign their business models and enable sustainable and impactful audiovisual digital archives. Design/methodology/approach An inductive multiple case research design was used. Five cases of audiovisual digital archives of independent films were selected. Data collected was based on desk research, onsite visits, interviews with top managers responsible for the digitalization of some of the archives and experimentation with the services provided. Data was collected and analyzed based on a theoretical framework defined from the literature for business models of cultural organizations. Findings The archives analyzed faced the challenge of aligning the commercial viability with a mission of making content available to increase cultural knowledge. A sustainable business model may be achieved by using different revenue models, while guaranteeing to offer a value proposition carefully aligned with stakeholders' expectations. Moreover, an impactful business model, i.e. a business model that enhances the creation of cultural value for customers and reaches wider audiences, requires careful audience management and the use of data analysis about audience behavior to adjust the offering. Finally, the business model must consider the resources, activities and infrastructure that ensure critical capabilities for the business and must be designed to ensure financial resilience of the organization. Originality/value This study contributes with a holistic analysis of business models for the digital transformation of cultural organizations, detailing alternative configurations for the most relevant components of a digital business model for audiovisual archives.

TL;DR: In this paper , the European Children's Ombudsman, together with the European Union, must be the guarantors, fundamental to the implementation and standardization of principles, rights, duties, processes, and procedures regarding the uncompromising defense of children, regardless of their state of origin.
Abstract: The definition of a child accepted by the international community is presented in Article 1 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, ‘A child is every human being below the age of 18 years, unless, under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier’. This definition ensures that the family is a natural and fundamental element of society and a natural environment for the growth and well-being of all members, particularly children, and that it should receive the necessary protection and assistance to fully play its role in the community. Thus, it is unhelpful to distinguish children, whether they are unaccompanied minors, refugees, or migrants, from any other children, because, in practice, all children are children by virtue of their natural fragility. They deserve the full protection of the Member States and the European Union to safeguard their most basic human rights. However, refugee, migrant, and/or unaccompanied minor children suffer from a double fragility: they are children in a foreign country with all the consequences that this entails, namely in communicating and/or asking for help. Therefore, the European Children’s Ombudsman, together with the European Union, must be the guarantors, fundamental to the implementation and standardization of principles, rights, duties, processes, and procedures regarding the uncompromising defense of children, regardless of their state of origin. To this end, they should govern their actions based on the following principles: (a) Superior interest of the child and young person, (b) Privacy, (c) Early intervention, (d) Minimum intervention, (e) Proportionality and timeliness, (f) Parental responsibility, (g) Primacy of the continuity of deep psychological relationships, (h) Prevalence of the family, (i) Mandatory information, (j) Mandatory hearing and participation, and (k) Subsidiarity. The way a child is taken in, will influence his or her perception of the foster system.KeywordsChildrenConvention on the Rights of the ChildDemocracyGlobalisationHuman rightsMigrants and refugeesEuropean ombudsman for childrenEuropean UnionSocial justice

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed changes and continuities in the behavior of housing supply in the real estate downturn of the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region in the 2000s, and surveyed the characteristics of housing launches and their pricing based on available financing and on strategies to maximize developers' gains.
Abstract: The analysis identifies changes and continuities in the behavior of housing supply in the real estate downturn of the Sao Paulo Metropolitan Region in the 2000s. It is structured on a periodization, considering macroeconomic movements and their impacts on the real estate sector. We observed dynamics based on market subtypes and on supply expansion vectors, reflecting specificities and the roughness of the metropolitan territory. In addition, we surveyed the characteristics of housing launches and their pricing based on the available financing and on strategies to maximize developers’ gains. There is a repositioning of the sector as the capital city’s market is prioritized by strategies that regionally counteract the crisis through an important supply of affordable housing and pattern changes, supported by the Minha Casa Minha Vida housing program, with an increasing participation of large companies.
