TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a system and method for revenue sharing between printer vendors and network service providers or operators, which can be expressed as instructions encoded on a computer readable medium.
Abstract: A system and method by which to implement revenue sharing between printer vendors and network service providers or operators. In one example, a method for providing printing access to a mobile device may include acts of requesting information from a printer, receiving the information at a mobile device, providing the information to a communications subsystem of a mobile network operator, based on the information, acquiring a printing capability of the printer, sending the printing capability from the communications subsystem to the mobile device, and upon receipt of the printing capability, if the printing capability is enabled, sending a print request from the mobile device to the printer. A corresponding apparatus may be used to implement the method, which may be provided as instructions encoded on a computer readable medium.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for determining an FFT window location for reception of an OFDM signal received over a transmission channel is presented. But the system is not suitable for the reception of a large number of symbols with a guard interval.
Abstract: A system and method for determining an FFT window location for reception of an OFDM signal received over a transmission channel. The OFDM signal includes a plurality of symbols each having a guard interval. The system includes a correlation module that determines a location of maximum correlation in a first symbol, an FFT module to perform an FFT on the OFDM signal based upon an initial FFT window location, and an adjustment module. The adjustment module determines a plurality of permissible echo location options based upon the initial FFT window location, selects a permissible echo location option that corresponds most closely to the location of maximum correlation, and adjusts the initial FFT window location based upon the selected permissible echo location option so that the adjusted FFT window location includes substantially all of a useful symbol length of the first symbol while a maximum number of echoes are included within the guard interval of the first symbol.

TL;DR: In this article, a cascade of multiple nonlinear edge preserving filters, and nonlinear pixel point operations, are used to calculate the pixel gain, and multiple low-pass filters are applied to surrounding neighborhoods of the current pixel of narrow and of wide extent.
Abstract: A local method uses a cascade of multiple nonlinear edge preserving filters, and nonlinear pixel point operations, to calculate the pixel gain. Multiple low-pass filters are used, being applied to surrounding neighborhoods of the current pixel of narrow and of wide extent. The number of filter stages may be determined based on the image content. The coefficients used to combine a gray level image extracted from the input image with the ascending scale regions can be automatically extracted from high-pass filtered images of the ascending scale regions. Multiplying each color component of the input image by one or more pixel dependent gain or attenuation factors, using a nonlinear mapping function that can lighten shadow regions as well as darken bright regions, generates the output image.

TL;DR: In this article, motion vectors between successive image frames of an object scene are calculated from normalized values of pixel luminance in order to reduce or eliminate any effects on the motion calculation that might occur when the object scene is illuminated from a time varying source such as a fluorescent lamp.
Abstract: In a digital camera or other image acquisition device, motion vectors between successive image frames of an object scene are calculated from normalized values of pixel luminance in order to reduce or eliminate any effects on the motion calculation that might occur when the object scene is illuminated from a time varying source such as a fluorescent lamp. Calculated motion vectors are checked for accuracy by a robustness matrix.

TL;DR: In this paper, a channel impulse response (CIR) is computed, and an equalizer taps interval is then determined based on the CIR, and a Least Mean Squares (LMS) algorithm is used to determine a set of equalizer major taps.
Abstract: A method of operating an equalizer includes combining a Least Mean Squares (LMS) algorithm and a Least Squares (LS) algorithm to determine a set of equalizer tap values to be used in processing a signal. A channel impulse response (CIR) is computed, and an equalizer taps interval is then determined based on the CIR. The LS algorithm is used to determine a set of equalizer major taps based on the interval, and the LMS algorithm is used to determine a set of equalizer minor taps based on the interval.

TL;DR: In this article, a pixel-by-pixel method for dynamic range compensation (DRC) and noise reduction (NR) is presented, adjusting the noise reduction parameters in response to the DRC decisions.
Abstract: Methods and corresponding apparatus are presented that perform dynamic range compensation (DRC) and noise reduction (NR) together on a pixel-by-pixel basis, adjusting the noise reduction parameters in response to the dynamic range compensation decisions. By such a modification of image noise reduction parameters based on the dynamic range compensation gain or, more generally, other such factors, these techniques make it possible to perform DRC on noisy images, achieving an image with low and uniform noise levels.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of having multiple devices share a circuit's input/output (I/O) terminals includes applying first and second input signals to first/second I/O terminals to generate first/ second output signals at the second and first I/o terminals, respectively.
Abstract: A method of having multiple devices share a circuit's input/output (I/O) terminals includes applying first and second input signals to first and second I/O terminals to generate first and second output signals at the second and first I/O terminals, respectively. The first and second I/O terminals are coupled to first, second, and third devices via a plurality of signal paths. The method determines which, if any, of the first, second, and third devices is activated based on the first and second output signals. In some embodiments, the three devices correspond to three key switches of a keyboard through which a user can enter operation instructions. In some other embodiments, the three devices correspond to three signal receivers, which are controlled by a local or remote signal source that transmits activation signals in a wired or wireless manner.

Abstract: A method of performing color space conversion includes maintaining a data structure that has a plurality of dimensions and that contains a plurality of locations storing information in each of the dimensions. Each of the dimensions corresponds to a different one of a plurality of input color signal components. The number of locations which the data structure contains in a first one of the dimensions is different from the number of locations which the data structure contains in a second one of the dimensions. The method further includes inputting first data defined according to a first color space, and generating second data defined according to a second color space, by applying information contained in the data structure to the first data.

TL;DR: In this article, a selector couples a selected one of the first tuning module and the second tuning module to the oscillator based on a difference between a frequency-divided version of the output signal and a reference signal.
Abstract: An apparatus for generating an output signal having a particular frequency includes an oscillator, a first tuning module, and a second tuning module. The oscillator generates an output signal associated with an output frequency. When coupled to the oscillator, the first tuning module is capable of inducing, within a first amount of time, a change in the output frequency of a particular magnitude. When coupled to the oscillator, the second tuning module is capable of inducing, within a second amount of time, a change in the' output frequency of the same magnitude. The second amount of time is greater than the first amount of time. The selector couples a selected one of the first tuning module and the second tuning module to the oscillator based on a difference between a frequency-divided version of the output signal and a reference signal.
