Abstract: Public awareness of airline safety issues is likely to increase in the 1990s. This growth will in part be simply a function of an increased number of passengers and frequency of travel. Even if the airline industry maintains its current accident rate, the raw number of accidents will increase because of the increase in flights. In this context, public perception of the airline industry is even more demanding.
