TL;DR: In this paper, a 4-year series of measurements of the influence of the green spaces in Paris (France) on climatic factors and air pollution patterns was used to assess the role of urban green space in alleviating the adverse effects of urbanization.
Abstract: Urban concentration and urban sprawl have important consequences on the environment. The anarchic sprawl of cities without green spaces, especially those of developing countries, is a true ecological threat to urban dwellers. The gradual change of microclimate in a large city is primarily related to the scarcity of green spaces. The main objective of this study is to assess the role of urban green spaces in alleviating the adverse effects of urbanization. The study is based on a 4 year series of measurements of the influence of the green spaces in Paris (France) on climatic factors and air pollution patterns. The analysis of these measurement samples revealed that green spaces enable the regulation of temperatures and the rate of significant pollution. The results of the study based on measurements, which represent the most frequent cases found during the campaign, indicate that urban green areas play an important role in improving the quality of the urban environment. The decreasing temperatures in green spaces promote the reduction of the urban heat island. Green spaces are the least polluted places in a city. They contribute significantly to the improvement of the microclimate and the reduction of the rate of pollution in the city.

TL;DR: In this paper, a more general form of Homotopy Analysis Method called q-HAM is introduced in this work which gives more chances of convergence compare to the usual HAM due to the presence of fraction factor associated with the solution.
Abstract: It is well known that Homotopy Analysis Method is one of the most efficient methods of obtaining analytical or approximate solution of both linear and nonlinear partial differential equation. A more general form of HAM is introduced in this work called q-HAM which gives more chances of convergence compare to the usual HAM due to the presence of fraction factor associated with the solution. An application of this method is given to Fingero-Imbibition phenomena in double phase flow through porous media. q-HAM is used to obtain the saturation of injected water. We obtain the graphical representation of solution using MATLAB R2007b and Microsoft Excel 2010 with different values of h and n testing the effect of large n. Comparison is made with the solution obtained in [10] using Adomian Decomposition Method when n = 1 including numerical values.

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of a first-order homgeneous chemical reaction and thermal radiaton on hydromagnetic free convection heat and mass transfer for a viscous fluid in the presence of thermal diffusion and heat generation is analyzed.
Abstract: The present work analyzes the influence of a first-order homgeneous chemical reaction and thermal radiaton on hydromagnetic free convection heat and mass transfer for a viscous fluid in the presence of thermal diffusion and heat generation. The plate is assumed to moves with a constant velocity in the direction of the flow. A uniform magnetic field acts perpendicular to the porous surface which absorbs the fluid with a suction velocity varying with time. The dimensionless governing equations for this investigation are solved analytically using two terms harmonic and non-harmonic functions .The effects of various parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration fields are presented graphically and discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated complete synchronization, anti-synchronization and all possible cases of hybrid synchronization of two identical non-linear dynamical systems of a parabolic restricted three body problem evolving from different initial conditions using the Active Control Technique based on Lyapunov Stability theory and the Routh-Hurwitz criterion.
Abstract: In this paper , we have investigated complete synchronization, anti-synchronization and all possible cases of hybrid synchronization of two identical non-linear dynamical systems of a parabolic restricted three body problem evolving from different initial conditions using the Active Control Technique based on Lyapunov Stability theory and the Routh-Hurwitz criterion. These cases lead to establishing that the synchronization behavior of the two identical parabolic restricted three body problem depends only on the synchronization behavior of the state variable 'z', which gives the position of the negligible third body mass. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to plot phase portraits, time series analysis graphs of the master system and the slave system which further illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control techniques.

TL;DR: This paper proposed a ranking method to find the fuzzy optimal solution of unbalanced fuzzy transportation problems occurring in real life situations and a new representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is proposed.
Abstract: The aim of Fuzzy transportation is to find the least transportation cost of some commodities through a capacitated network when the supply and demand of nodes and the capacity and cost of edges are represented as fuzzy numbers. Many previous papers 6,7,12,13 have presented arithmetic operations, alpha level and simple ranking by operations. P. Pandian11 has presented some methods for fuzzy transportation problem. Finally all these research papers present the solutions of balanced FTP by alpha level, simple ranking methods and simple arithmetic operations. In this paper we proposed a ranking method to find the fuzzy optimal solution of unbalanced fuzzy transportation problems occurring in real life situations. Also, a new representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is proposed. The advantages of the proposed methods over existing methods and the proposed representation of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers over existing representation are also discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of chemical reaction and radiation absorption on unsteady MHD free convection heat and mass transfer flow on a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid past a semi-infinite inclined porous plate, moving with a uniform velocity.
Abstract: In this analysis, the effects of chemical reaction and radiation absorption have been discussed on unsteady MHD free convection heat and mass transfer flow on a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid past a semi-infinite inclined porous plate, moving with a uniform velocity. The chemical reaction has been assumed to be of first-order. The non-linear partial differential equations governing the flow have been solved numerically using a closed analytical form method under the convergence criteria. Graphical results for velocity, temperature and concentration profiles have been obtained, to show the effects of different parameters entering in the problem. Such flow problems are important in many processes, in which there is combined heat and mass transfer with chemical reaction, such as drying, evaporation at the surface of water body etc. It has been observed that the concentration decrease with the increase in the chemical reaction parameter and there is an increase in temperature with an increase in the value of radiation parameter.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of Hall current and rotation on an electrically conducting rarefied gas are investigated, where a constant, strong magnetic field is applied at an angle to both the electric field and the direction of flow of the fluid.
Abstract: In this study, effects of Hall current and rotation on an electrically conducting rarefied gas are investigated. A constant, strong magnetic field is applied at an angle to both the electric field and the direction of flow of the fluid. The study seeks to find the effects of Hall current and angle of application of the magnetic field on velocity and temperature profiles. The flow of the gas is considered as unsteady and restricted to laminar domain. The set of equations which describe the flow are a combination of the Navier-Stokes equations of fluid dynamics, generalized Ohm’s law, Maxwell’s equations, equation of continuity and equation of energy. These equations are solved numerically using the finite difference method. Numerical results of velocity and temperature profiles are analyzed using tables and graphs for Hall current parameters m* ranging from 0.0 to 1.0 and parameter for angle of application of the magnetic field ranging from 0.0 to 1.0. TL;DR: In this article, the radiation effect of Kuvshinshiki fluid on MHD free convection flow past a vertical porous plate with heat and mass transfer taking Visco-elastic and Darcy resistance terms into account and the constant permeability of the medium numerically and neglecting induced magnetic field in comparison to applied magnetic field.
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to study the radiation effect of Kuvshinshiki fluid on MHD free convection flow past a vertical porous plate with heat and mass transfer taking Visco-elastic and Darcy resistance terms into account and the constant permeability of the medium numerically and neglecting induced magnetic field in comparison to applied magnetic field. The velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are derived, discussed numerically. It is observed that velocity increases with increase in Gm, K and but it decreases with the increase in M andλ . It is observed that increase in Prandtl number Pr causes decreases in temperature. It is observed that increase in Schmidt number Sc leads to decreases in concentration. It is also noticed that skin friction increases with increase in K and but it decreases with the increase in R, M andλ.

Abstract: In this paper, we studied the effect of slip on the peristaltic flow of a Williamson fluid through a porous medium in a planar channel, under the assumptions of low Reynolds number and long wavelength. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. The perturbation series in the Weissenberg number ( ) was used to obtain explicit forms for velocity field, pressure gradient per one wavelength. The effects of various pertinent parameters on the pressure gradient and pumping characteristics are discussed through graphs in detail.

Abstract: This study, it has been attempted to select the best continuous- time stochastic model, in order to describe and forecast the oil price of Iran, by information and statistics about oil price that has been available for oil price in the past. For this purpose, method of The Maximum Likelihood Estimation is implemented for estimation of the parameters of continuous-time stochastic processes. The result of unit root test with a structural break, reveals that time series of the crude oil price is a stationary series. The simulation of continuous-time stochastic processes and the mean square error between the simulated prices and the market ones shows that the Geometric Brownian Motion is the best model for the Iranian crude oil price.

TL;DR: Differential evolution (DE) based algorithm is proposed, implemented and compared with real variable genetic algorithm (RVGA) for solving the hydrothermal scheduling problem considering valve point loading for fixed head hydro-thermal problem.
Abstract: The short term hydrothermal scheduling (STHTS), is a daily planning proposition in power system operation. The main purpose of hydro thermal generation scheduling is to minimize the overall operation cost and to satisfy the given constraints by scheduling optimally the power outputs of all hydro and thermal units under study periods, given electrical load and limited water resource. In this paper differential evolution (DE) based algorithm is proposed, implemented and compared with real variable genetic algorithm (RVGA) for solving the hydrothermal scheduling problem considering valve point loading for fixed head hydro-thermal problem. Also, hydro power input-output model with constant head has been developed for Sewa hydro electric power plant by using the curve fitting technique namely least square method. The control parameters of real-variable genetic algorithm and differential evolution have been optimized for the considered case study. From the simulation results, it is found that the DE based approach is able to provide a higher quality solution at a comparatively lesser computational effort.
