TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper analyzed the characteristics of the progress made in greenhouse vegetable industry during the past five years in China and summarized the key research accomplishments and development in greenhouse facility, biological and functional genomics of vegetable science, nursery technology of greenhouse vegetable, high efficient usage of resources, overcoming of soil sickness, mechanism and regulation of stress tolerance, and system establishment for high quality and safety production.
Abstract: In recent years, great progress has been made in greenhouse vegetable industry in China. The areas of greenhouse agriculture increased by 10 % every year and different types of greenhouse facilities, production modes and technical systems based on characteristics of certain specific districts were developed. This paper analyzed the characteristics of the progress made in greenhouse vegetable industry during the past 5 years in China. We summarized the key research accomplishments and development in greenhouse facility, biological and functional genomics of vegetable science, nursery technology of greenhouse vegetable, high efficient usage of resources, overcoming of soil sickness, mechanism and regulation of stress tolerance, and system establishment for high quality and safety production. We also analyzed the major problems existing in greenhouse vegetable production and discussed about the future trend for industry development and research activities.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper reviewed the development characteristics of protected horticulture in China, generalized some typical experiences gained in the development process, analyzed the existing problems and deficiencies, and discussed the development trend of protected gardening in the future.
Abstract: Protected horticulture has developed rapidly in China, due to its progressiveness and high efficiency. In 2011,the cultivation area of protected horticulture was over 4 million hm2.It has played a huge role in supplying horticultural products and helping farmers to get rich.On the basis of briefing the development of protected horticulture, this paper reviews the development characteristics of protected horticulture in China, generalizes some typical experiences gained in the development process, analyzes the existing problems and deficiencies, discusses the development trend of protected horticulture in the future, and prospects the brilliant future of protected horticulture in China.

TL;DR: In this article, the accuracy of measuring tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum mill.)leaf area by ImageJ software was confirmed through measuring scanned standard shape, there was no significant difference for area with 100,200 and 300 DPI.
Abstract: The accuracy of measuring tomato(Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)leaf area by ImageJ software was confirmed through measuring scanned standard shape. There was no significant difference for area with 100,200 and 300 DPI.And 200 DPI was better. Two methods of paper-cutting and image processing for measuring tomato leaf area were compared and there was no significant difference.Based on the result, the method of measuring tomato leaf area with scanner and ImageJ software was established.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, dibutyl phthalate and diphenylamine on mineral elements absorption of young tomato root system were studied.
Abstract: Effects of 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, dibutyl phthalate and diphenylamine on mineral elements absorption of young tomato root system were studied in this paper. The results showed that the absorption of N,P and K were affected by these three allelochemicals. The inhibitive effect of 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid on the absorption of N,P and K increased with its concentration rising.Low concentration of dibutyl phthalate increased the absorption of N,but decreased the absorption of P and K.Its high concentration restrained the absorption of N,P and K,while the low concentration of diphenylamine could stimulate the absorption of N and K,but restrain the absorption of P.Generally, the P absorption was mostly affected by these allelochemicals.

TL;DR: The effects of vermicompost in different volume ratios on watermelon yield and quality were studied by Nakai et al. as mentioned in this paper, who showed that the additional vermicompos could significantly increase available N, available P, available K, organic matter contents in soil, and increase the contents of N,P,K in watermelon plants and fruit.
Abstract: The effects of vermicompost in different volume ratios on watermelon〔Citrullus lanatus(Thunb)Matsumet Nakai〕yield and quality were studiedThe results showed that the additional vermicompost could significantly increase available N,available P,available K,organic matter contents in soil, and increase the contents of N,P,K in watermelon plants and fruitThe concentrations of fructose, glucose, sucrose,VC,lycopene, and soluble protein were also enhancedThe fruit quality was improved and its yield was remarkably heightenedBut the effect of treatment was greatly depended on the applying ratio of vermicomposIn this experiment, treatment with 50 % vermicompost showed the best results, and the full vermicompost treatment had less effect than that of 50 % treatmentBut it was still better than other treatments
