TL;DR: Investigation of the skin shows an irregular epidermic hypochromy without pigment loss in the upper dermis, decrease and morphological immaturity of melanocytes, disturbance of keratinization with growth of large clear cells and malformation of skin appendages.
Abstract: Four new cases of Iτo’s Incontinentia pigmenti achromians developing in 1 family, the mother and her 3 daughters, are reported by the authors Histopathological investigations of the skin show an irregular epidermic hypochromy without pigment loss in the upper dermis, decrease and morphological immaturity of melanocytes, disturbance of keratinization with growth of large clear cells and malformation of skin appendages The pathological correlations of I P achromians (Iτo) and histopathological pecularities are similar to those of I P (Bloch-Sulzberger)

TL;DR: The incidence of allergic contact sensitivity in a group of eczematous patients was recorded for substances which can be used as constituents of vehicles in topical medicaments or as active drugs and the highest non-irritant concentration of a number of substances was ascertained.
Abstract: Medicament-induced skin diseases accounted for 6.8% of 14,400 cases of skin diseases observed between 1967 and 1970. In only 0.4% of the patients was a non-allergic medicament contact dermatitis present. The remaining 6.4% of the patients had an allergic medicament eruption; in 5% this was due to an allergic contact dermatitis, in the remaining 1.4% immediate-type allergic reactions were involved. The incidence of allergic contact sensitivity in a group of eczematous patients was recorded for substances which can be used as constituents of vehicles in topical medicaments or as active drugs1. This included only 1 base, wool alcohol, but several ‘additives’. By patch-testing 50 healthy volunteers the highest non-irritant concentration of a number of substances, which can be used as constituents of topical medicaments, was ascertained. These concentrations are compared with the concentrations commonly in use in ready-made preparations available in Italy.

TL;DR: A case of multiple sebaceous tumours and kerato acanthomata of the skin in a man who in a period of 21 years was also treated twice for a carcinoma of the colon and once for a cancer of the stomach is presented.
Abstract: The authors present a case of multiple sebaceous tumours and kerato acanthomata of the skin in a man who in a period of 21 years was also treated twice for a carcinoma of the colon and once for a carcinoma of the stomach. In the literature only two comparable cases have been found. It is suggested that these three cases represent examples of a rare syndrome.

TL;DR: The intimate topographic relationship between the epithelial and mesenchymal components suggests that the lesion arises as a consequence of abnormal adnexogenesis involving biochemical evocators of these respective components.
Abstract: A skin lesion consisting of increased numbers of eccrine sweat ducts associated with enveloping angiomatous vascular channels is presented Although a small number of similar lesions have been described, the present case is unique in that the regional pilar structures were also involved by the periadnexal vascular proliferation The intimate topographic relationship between the epithelial and mesenchymal components suggests that the lesion arises as a consequence of abnormal adnexogenesis involving biochemical evocators of these respective components

TL;DR: A case of hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine is described, and Absorption maxima are reported and the possibility of photoallergy is discussed.
Abstract: A case of hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine is described. When test areas were irradiated in different ways, stronger test reactions were obtained. Wood’s light produced the most distinct intensification of the effect; the patient reacted to 0.0156%, compared with 0.125% chlorhexidine solution without irradiation. Absorption maxima are reported and the possibility of photoallergy is discussed.

Abstract: Antipsoriatic response to topical administration of 01- and 03-percent retinoic acid (vitamin A acid) has been determined in a single blind study as compared with placebo and crude coal tar Forty consecutive patients with chronic psoriasis were included in the study Both concentrations of retinoic acid and crude coal tar were significantly more effective than placebo following 2 weeks of application, and 03-percent retinoic acid was more effective than crude coal tar Irritation in the form of erythema was noted with the 03-percent concentration of retinoic acid

TL;DR: The homogenate of the epidermis was found to contain immunogenic substances and one of its subcellular fractions could elicit intense contact hypersensitivity although it contained less amounts of haptenic groups than other fractions.
Abstract: To elucidate the sensitization mechanism of allergic contact dermatitis isolation of carrier substances from DNCB-treated epidermis was attempted. The homogenate of the epidermis was found to contain immunogenic substances. One of its subcellular fractions could elicit intense contact hypersensitivity although it contained less amounts of haptenic groups than other fractions. Electron microscopy revealed it to be the microsomal fraction of epidermal cells. Treatment of the fraction with deoxycholic acid caused slight reduction of its immunizing ability.

TL;DR: It is postulated that the relatively high incidence of chromate sensitivity among women with housewives’ eczema living in this region is related to the photosensitizing properties of chromates.
Abstract: This study showed that 229 (91.6%) of 250 patients with housewives’ eczema tested positive or strongly positive to a patch test with potassium dichromate. The possible relationship between this finding and the use of detergents was investigated by making a quantitative determination of the chromate content of 14 detergents widely used in Israel. A method found by the author to give very reliable results was used for this purpose (full details are presented). All the detergents tested were found to contain chromates in varying amounts, with the largest amounts present in bleaching solutions. It is postulated that the relatively high incidence of chromate sensitivity among women with housewives’ eczema living in this region is related to the photosensitizing properties of chromates.

Abstract: A genealogical study of lipoid proteinosis indicates that most, if not all, South African patients are probably descendants of a brother and sister, Jacob and Elsje Cloete, who settled in the Cape early in the latter half of the 17th century. It is suggested that a similar genealogical study be undertaken of patients in other countries to see whether more of them could be traced to the same family.

TL;DR: A case of the so-called blue rubber-bleb nevus, which appeared in old age, with an anorectal bleeding is presented, and it is proposed to call this entity ‘multiple skin and gastro-intestinal haemangiomata’ because the name describes the main features of this syndrome.
Abstract: A case of the so-called blue rubber-bleb nevus, which appeared in old age, with an anorectal bleeding is presented. Thrombocytopenia and hypercalcemia present in the case, are discussed and the pertinent literature is reviewed. The curious coincidence of 2 cystic squamous cell carcinoma in the groin is discussed, in view of the reported coincidence of other tumours. We propose to call this entity ‘multiple skin and gastro-intestinal haemangiomata’. This because the name describes the main features of this syndrome; moreover, it would call attention to the possibility of gastro-intestinal haemangiomata in such cases.

Abstract: The histological details of a pale cell acanthoma (Degos) is presented. The described lesion showed marked sweat duct hyperplasia, atopical placed sebaceous glands and small epithelial formations with differentiation to sebaceous gland cells. Of this the pale cell acanthoma (Degos) is interpreted as a hamartomal tumor. The pale cells are probable differentiations of the spinal layer cells, which are given in the norm such as in the oral mucosa.
