TL;DR: The relationship between research and activism is significant in order to rethink the processes of knowledge construction and its implications at different levels as discussed by the authors, taking into account that these implications are not separated, on the contrary, the decisions and ways of doing in each one of them have an impact on the others.
EnglishThe reflection on the relationship between research and activism is significant in order to rethink the processes of knowledge construction and its implications at different levels. Traditional and hegemonic notions of knowledge place it in a place separate from the reality that supposedly seeks to discover and explain, which distances it from political objectives and the need for another type of practice or action that feed it back. This text deals with the theoretical, political and methodological implications of activist research, particularly from a feminist perspective, taking into account that these implications are not separated, on the contrary, the decisions and ways of doing in each one of them have an impact on the others in a dialectical relationship.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors identify the agencies responsible for producing and disseminating sexual crime statistics, making a succinct evaluation of the main sources available, and present a compilation of the series on sexual delinquency extracted from the different Statistical Yearbooks published by the Ministry of the Interior since 1987, noting its low capacity for a rigorous quantitative study of sexual violence.
Abstract: Sexual violence against women and girls is one of the most brutal forms of gender violence and, at the same time, a long-silenced crime. The availability of periodic, rigorous and reliable statistics is a requirement to monitor any phenomenon of public interest and, in the case of sexual violence, an unavoidable requirement to design policies and interventions aimed at prevention, eradication, intervention and reparation. This article wants to be a contribution to the struggle of women victims of any form of sexual violence and, in particular, a political reflection of denunciation against the unjustified shortage of quantitative sources and the inexplicable low quality of the data for the study of this event in Spain. In the first part, we identify the agencies responsible for producing and disseminating sexual crime statistics, making a succinct evaluation of the main sources available. In the second part, we present a compilation of the series on sexual delinquency extracted from the different Statistical Yearbooks published by the Ministry of the Interior since 1987, noting its low capacity for a rigorous quantitative study of sexual violence.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore how research methods can be used to analyse the experience of women in police custody from a feminist approach, through a review of the literature on this object of research, a description of the research context, the methodology developed and the decisions made about the most appropriate research techniques for the specific context and the specificities of women.
EnglishThis article explores how research methods can be used to analyse the experience of women in police custody from a feminist approach. Here, there are presented the methodological process developed with women who went through an experience of police detention, paying particular attention to ethical issues, through a review of the literature on this object of research, a description of the research context, the methodology developed and the decisions made about the most appropriate research techniques for the specific context and the specificities of women in police detention. The usefulness of the closing meeting is illustrated with a double purpose: to weigh the impact of the research for the participants and to return the results, But the closing group made it possible to fulfil other objectives not initially envisaged, such as group comparison of results, accountability on the progress of the research, as well as the generation of dynamics of empathy and mutual validation. In short, the closing group went far beyond the initial expectations, serving as a learning experience for the researchers about the enormous potential of group techniques for the study of women's experiences. Beyond what was initially envisaged, the focus group allowed for the establishment of other forms of relationships with the women participants, reducing the researcher/participant distance and facilitating more horizontal ways of generating knowledge.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the usefulness of combining economic and political models of contention from the two research areas, and examine and relate the workers' use of strikes and street protests between 2000 and 2016 in Spain.
Abstract: During the past half century, the study of social contention has been characterized by a division between research on labor movements and studies on other social movements. This division also left its mark on the study of modes of action: while labor scholars mainly examined strikes, social movement scholars have increasingly come to focus on street protests. This article is a contribution to bridging the gap between the two research areas both on theoretical and empirical levels. On a theoretical level, I discuss the usefulness of combining economic and political models of contention from the two research areas. On an empirical level, I use official data provided by Spanish ministries to examine and relate the workers’ use of strikes and street protests between 2000 and 2016 in Spain. Examining strikes and street protests jointly does not only provide a fuller picture, it also helps to discern contrasts and thus the specificities of each mode of action.

TL;DR: This paper explored the idea of unity in feminist activism, testing it through one of the most controversial issues within social movements: political advocacy on institutions, and found that when we converge, we influence.
Abstract: "When we converge, we influence", was a phrase uttered by a veteran feminist. From there, this article explores the idea of unity in feminist activism, testing it through one of the most controversial issues within social movements: political advocacy on institutions. The approach to these issues is conducted on the study of The State March Against Machist Violence, better known as 7N, considered a milestone in recent feminism. This unitary and massive demonstration, which directly challenged the State and its institutions, makes it a privileged field of research to delve into the question posed.
