TL;DR: In this paper, two solutions for PV operation are proposed, one is use of the SVC and the other is that of the reactor, which are shown to improve ac voltage stability and to be feasible for the PV operation in desert areas.
Abstract: Large photovoltaic power generation facilities are expected to be installed in desert areas and provide electricity to rural areas through long cable transmission lines. However, ac transmission networks in such areas are usually inadequate for stable grid operation. One problem to be solved is voltage instability when large photovoltaic power generation facilities are connected to weak power grids. In this paper, two solutions for PV operation are proposed. One is use of the SVC and the other is that of the reactor. By conducting computer simulations on a test system, the proposed solutions are shown to improve ac voltage stability and to be feasible for the PV operation in desert areas. TL;DR: Limitation of fault current limiter application is reported and protection coordination with impedance relay is shown through computer simulation and it is shown that problems in such distribution network are increase of short circuit current and voltage sag will be solved by application of faultCurrent limiter.
Abstract: -As discussed in the field of Smart Grid distribution network will change its characteristics from conventional power distribution to power exchange between distributed power generations and loads. The distribution network will be operated in loop configuration instead of present radial shape for getting higher availability and higher efficiency. Problems in such distribution network are increase of short circuit current and voltage sag. These problems will be solved by application of fault current limiter reported by authors. This paper reportslimitation of fault current limiter application and shows protection coordination with impedance relaythrough computer simulation. Key-Words: -Fault current limiter, distribution network, voltage drop, protection relay
